Those of you that have a VH45 with the Mazworx adapter with a Z32 transmission and starter, did you have to cut off a section of the VH45 block right where the Q starter would have mounted? It appears the end of the starter isn't going to clear the block, but cutting the block up doesn't seem like an ideal solution.

Trying to get this fired up tonight and I'd like to hear from someone ASAP!

Even though I didn't use the adapter I am almost 100% positive that you'll have to cut a chunk out of the block to get the starter to clear. Don't worry, the rest of the block has so much strength in it that it's not an issue. It's just there to hold the factory q starter. Let the cutting begin!!!

I just hacked almost the whole thing off but I think GSRacer just cut out a notch for the starter snout.

Thanks! I figured after playing with it for a while that there is no possible way to get the "nose" on the Z32 starter to clear without cutting the block. I wish I would have just cut that whole thing off while it was out.

And for anyone curious, the Z32 starter with the stock, unmodified manifolds is a VERY tight (maybe too tight) fit. I cut all the heat shields off the manifold but left the heat shields on surrounding the cats. The starter would not fit between the transmission and passenger side cat with the heat shield on, so it had to come off. I'm still not sure it will fit, but I'm fairly confident it will.

yes notch / cut the block. Its only about 3/4 inch out of a non essential part. Good luck firing her up.

Just curious, what's stopping people from switching the starter the other way and reversing the polarity of the starter wires? I thought the 300ZX starter opening was sort of hexagonal shape and you could flip it over. It's been a while since I saw mine since I mailed it out to you

from an electrical point of view u would need to internally disconnect and swap the earth (or -12v) screw on the inside of the starter case, as normally the starter case is the negative...then maybe...

Flipping the starter over would 1) cause the gear to be engaged with the flywheel all the time and 2) it would make it harder to fit. I'll have to get some pictures which will explain it a hell of a lot better, but it was VERY close to fitting without cutting the block, but it had to be cut none the less.

For anyone planning on doing this, do yourself a favor and do it before you put your engine in. That aluminum dust is EVERYWHERE now.

By the way, thanks again for the starter!
