Im also considering a 93-94 MX-6 LS V6.The ones with 165hp and like 170ft torque.They 1/4mile around 15.7 stock.Yes theyre faster than a 240sx stock, but they're FWD...The S13's do look a bit more sporty IMO too.Which do you vote on?

I also know that the mazda is aka a FORD Probe "aka Ford probeLEM". Machanicly speaking, I trust a nissan over a ford/mazda anyday of the week. Just my 2 cents though.

stick with the 240 bro. there's much more you can do with it, that is if you don't plan on leaving it stock.

Yeah, stick with the 240. I knew a guy with a MX-6, and it kinda blew up. plus, the after market is really good for the 240. they do have more hp, but remember, stock a 240 makes 155 out of a 2.4 4banger. the probe/mx-6 makes 165 out of a 2.5 v6. i think the 240 is doing pretty well, plus drop a CA or SR, and you are making even more hp out of an even smaller engine.

i saw a few reviews on mx6 vs 240 vs GSX vs lude. everytime i saw these, the 240 got better review than the mx6, was faster, handled better, looked better, and had better reliability. i would go w/ the 240 bro :)

That looks like a dong. Piss on an MX6. Not too long ago, I beat down a Probe GT that was riced out. Damned thing sounded like it was going to blow up.

the mx-6 is not that bad, but go with the 240. my friend has one right now and hes not sure what hes going to do with it. he might sell it. its nice because he has really nothing done to the exterior but a new paint job, rims, and lowered. he has a few things done to the engine, im dont know what, but its quick.

get the 240. youll be much happier if you do.

Of course you're going to get an unbiased opinion on a 240sx bb.The V-6 MX-6's are not bad. here's how the two match up assuming they're in equal stock condition

Both are nice looking, competent, reliable cars (despite the horror stories you hear about individual cars) if you maintain them well. The Mazda will cost a little more to maintain than the 240.The Mazda will cost a little more in gas (V-6 vs 240's inline 4)The FWD Mazda will do better in snow (if you're not an experienced bad weather driver. The RWD 240 plain sucks in snow, just the way it is)The Mazda will be a little bit quicker in a straight line than the 240.Yes, you can throw money at a 240 and make it quicker, but you can do that to any car. I don't need to hear about Joe Blow's car beating an MX-6 in a street race. Drivers make a far bigger difference than 15 hp on paper. Handling - 240sx handles better but the MX-6 has a softer feeling suspension, making MX-6 a little more comfortable ride.If you log a lot of miles, your butt may appreciate the softer ride.If you autocross, the 240 is a better choiceFun to drive: 240sx will win hands down. Very tossable.Looks: both have very clean attractive shapes in their stock forms, and both get very ugly very quickly when you start adding cheezy add-ons to them.

As a new car, I did purchase a 240sx over an MX6/Probe.But as a 10 yr old used car, I'd choose the car in better shape that was maintained better. If that was an MX-6, then so be it.

Good luck

I think that the MX6 is a good looking car, but I was looking for rwd rather than fwd, I also think that it is easier to beef up a 240, than it is to beef up a MX6. IMO I wo0uld get a 240, RWD, and the styling looks better.

93-97 MX-6s look VERY similar in styling to '95-96 240s. It's kind of odd to say one likes the styling of one but thinks the other is ugly. They're so similar...

Anyway, since you're talking S13 verses 2nd gen MX-6, styling is your personal preference. To be honest, I prefer the looks of an S13 to the S14, and I'm driving a '96....so...

I know a LOT about MX-6 LS's seeing as I owned a '93 Probe GT for 2 years and am extremely active in the Probe community.

Mazda MX-6 LS/Ford Probe GT:2.5L V6 (KL03)164hp/155lb-ft tq for '93...94+ had 160lb-ft tq.Stock 0-60 is around 7 sec. 5-speed is obviously going to tend to get you there a little quicker than an auto.Stock 1/4 time is mid 15s 5-speed, 16ish auto.

Handling is incredible, and not "just" for a FWD. My Probe felt a lot more nose-heavy than my 240, but it was DEFINITELY just as tossable around corners and curves. Those cars handle outstandingly. PGT suspensions are slightly stiffer than the MX-6.

Interiors on the cars are also fantastic. Comfy, supportive seats, nice overall layout of controls and shifter.

Reliabilty is NOT as big of an issue as so many people in this thread have made it out to be. I put 30 thousand miles on my Probe and NEVER had a single issue with it other than general maintenence and normally occurring problems with the cars. In two years and 30k miles I replaced the water pump, valve cover gaskets, and distributor. All pretty basic stuff if you ask me, considering the issues occurred around 80. Other than that I had to buy a new battery, tires, and when I sold the car it was in need of a new passenger side rear brake caliper.

The automatic transmissions are crap, I won't deny that for a second. They start slipping and going out almost like clockwork around 90k... Granted this can be avoided if you buy a car that has had regular, proper transmission services, and the installation of an aftermarket transmission cooler makes a huge difference. At 100k my car was on presumably the original transmission fluid and I'd started to experience some issues with it around 93k or so... I added an ATF treatment and installed a transmission cooler, problems were solved entirely. I'd never have another auto again on any car with out a transmission cooler. They're amazing.

These cars are great in snow, too. I had a set of studded snow tires on my PGT in central OR where we got a good bit of snow in the winter, and MUCH preferred driving my car over my mom's AWD Subaru Forester...

Anyway, I promise if you get a 5-speed V6 Probe or MX-6 you will NOT be disappointed. :) I can't describe how much I love these cars. I immensely regret selling my PGT for my 240 and will be switching back sometime next year once the 240 is paid off and I decide for sure I want to get rid of it.

No prob man. If you have any specific questions or anything, feel free to PM me. I'd be glad to help you out.

5 months of snow and ice...yeah. MX-6 gets my vote even more. My Probe was absolutely fantastic. When other people were literally sliding off the roads into ditches and other cars, I was steady and easily was able to remain in control.

I'm glad that I have my S14 here in South Carolina where snow isn't an issue. I probably wouldn't have had a good time at all if I were still dealing with Oregon winters in the mountains. :)

I had 1993 Mazda MX6 (I totalled it). It was really nice car and fast. But the parts are really expensive.

i got a buddy totally building a probe gt. i seen his new titanium heads in the passenger seat of his car last weekend...he's got money though. he's shootin for about 300hp with it after he's done. boost, juice, internals, it's gutted on the inside and we just put on a new eibach/tokico adjustable kit with new sway bars on it a couple weeks ago. He's also getting a newer body kit for it. It's the probe with my car in the member's rides section. If you got the money to do it right anything'll be nice.still say stick with the 240
