So after all the transmission problems I've had (Dee is very right, the CA16DE transmsission sucks) I am making my CA18DET Pulsar an on going project vehicle. I went today and bought (probably for a good bit more than I should have) a 1984 Nissan 200sx with a CA20E. It's not the most amazing thing in the world, but it's a Nissan. I don't plan on doing anything to it other than regular upkeep kinda work, just a daily driver. I know Randall will be very happy that I'm finally in a RWD car!

I already miss driving my CA18DET...

Pics to come (if i can get around to it)

You should put the 20 in the pulsar and the 18 in the S12 if you want some real fun!

no way, a pulsar with it's stock ca18de isnt eve THAT slow!

andother pulsar down... mine finally (after a year!!!) should be getting up soon. I've had a steady enough job that ive been able to save money here and there. Im gonna make a final push for cash in the enxt month or two and hopefully fire my bad boy up. the car looks so sad in my backyard. Then the original pulsar nut on these forums (thats me will be boosted again!!

wish me luck as i wish you the same.

Don't feel bad, man. My sentra sits in my driveway and I still can't finish it (time). My drag sentra sits in the back yard with bushes around it and probably geckos in it. I have CA powered 240 that's drives pretty nice and roughly puts out just over 300whp @ only 15psi of boost, but it still is not finished. Bottom line is, get your car running when you have the time and can afford to. I can afford to, but I don't have the time.

Be nice to that S12. Those CA20's aren't infamous for having good longevity. KEEP IT OFF THE REDLINE!!! The CA20 has weaksauce rods and likes to spin rod bearings when you beat on it.

If you drive it nicely though, it should last you a long time.

yeah... I don't plan on raping this car... not until i finish the pulsar and get the sx it's own ca18...

this car was babied by it's 2 previous owners... the guy bought it new and babied it, then they sold it to the lady i got it from who barely drove it... hell, it still has that plastic trim thingy under the radiator/front of the engine!

the tach would be a good thing to fix, seeing as that's pretty much the only thing that doesn't work in this car. any of our S12 buddies here know what i could do to get it working again? it just simply doesn't do anything
