So, on my way home from work yesterday I pull up next to this ghetto bro-dozer - towing a huge trailer - as we're about to enter a freeway.

I think you'll see what's wrong.

Or, maybe a closer look:

Needless to say, I may have exceeded the "Reasonable and Prudent" statutes getting the hell away from this POS. :tisk:

BTW, pavement temps yesterday were 180*. Add the friction of 70mph to that and 240* tire temps aren't unrealistic.

Monumental fail. Probably spent his tire budget on the rear-exit exhaust (which I actually am a fan of when done right).

Of course, nearly as big a a fail as being unsafe is actually spending money on a 3rd gen Dakota, the world's most mediocre pickup.

Wow, a bologna skin has more tread than that tire. I'm guessing the state of AZ does not have annual inspections??

Nope. A bunch of lefty politicians somehow thought it would "unfairly burden" our Hispanic / Latino population, which is about as racist as it gets.

They were also the ones who opposed the "no kids in truck beds" law, for the same reason. Brilliant. :tisk:

Political BS aside, I very much oppose annual inspections. The implication that ONE SINGLE YEARLY VISIT to an inspection shop will solve any problem is ridiculous. All annual inspections do is inconvenience guys like you and me who take care of our cars. Extra inconvenience, extra cost, extra hoops to jump through, zero benefit. They don't keep cars on the road safe. There's not one single safety-related aspect of a car that has a 1-year lifespan. So the guy who has been driving for 11 months with a shattered windshield finally has to fix it. Doesn't help the other 11 months. Having to pass an inspection on a certain date every year is irritating. What if I want to replace my brake pads next weekend instead of this weekend? Oh, they fail to pass an arbitrary pad depth test? Too bad.

Safety inspections and emissions inspections can take a long walk off a short pier.

The answer to maintenance-related safety items is not periodic testing. It is (as with ALL things) ACTIVE ENFORCEMENT.

...or insurance adjusters actually inspecting the car that caused the accident and holding the driver accountable for their POS.

Certainly would be nice (again) for those of us who actually take care of our cars!
