Well, after lots and lots of talking with my folks and friends, the idea of selling my car has come up. As some know, i drive a 91 240sx HB. i have a few things done to it, but nothing major. the main problem is, i just dont have the money anymore. and its not money to do modifications, its money to fix stuff. It seems like everything has broken that can be broken in the last year. dont get me wrong, i love driving her, but its just that i dont have the money to keep fixing stuff, or do a full rebuild on everything and make her a mean machine. so, i was talking with the folks and my mom mentioned the idea of selling it. i wasnt too sure it would sell, mainly cause its not fully painted right now, but i dunno. i dont really want to sell it, but its like all these moms with no job begging for money cause they have too many kids: if you cant afford to feed 1 or 2, when why keep having them. so, if i do sell it, i wanted to sell it to a NICO member close to me, or even a DNE guy. also, i'll need a new car. i need something with good reliability, good gas mileage cause im driving almost an 2 hrs a day to and from school, ease to work on, good amount and availability of parts, and one of the most important, insurance. so, here is my list, feel free to comment on it and add:

-240z-1994 Alfa Romeo 164S (just for ****s and giggles)-1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde (same as above)-4th Gen Max-S14-B13 SE-R-B14 SE-R-Toyota Cressida-Datsun 510 Cpe-Maserati Bi-turbo Coupe (Again, the ****s and giggles factor)-5th Gen Celica-Scooby 2.5 RS 2dr-EK/EG Civic hatch

Id like to stick with nissan, but i want something comfortable. again, this is only if i sell the 240. thanks guys.

i'll give you fi dolla for the 240 :D

how much are you looking to spend? auto or manual? you should also consider a G20 or I30, but 5 spd I30's are very hard to find. there's a 91 300zx TT in today's paper for 5700, but that will probably be more of a money pit than your car.

I know you guys going to flame me for this. But if I was a low budget student, I would get a camry. It is the most reliable car I know. Also, it has a good gas mpg.

a camry would be good, but i think seth would look funny driving one. maybe your parents will give you the pathfinder?

Your list of replacement cars will be even more of a hassle than the car you have now. Seriously, you have a strait car in running condition and you would replace it with a older, more rusty, more problimatice datsun 510?

You going to loose money on selling your 240, but if its what your set on doing because of money reasons, i wouldnt get a "****s and giggles" car...

Seth would look hysterical in a Camry, he just "fits" in Roxanne ;) Keep ol' Roxxy man, I'll kill you if I dont. Oh, and dont try to sell her to me, I do NOT need another car in the garage!

courtesy's site lists a 95 maxima (probably an SE) 5spd with leather seats and under 100k for 5988. but, that's asking too much and i hear the sales people at courtesy are d!ck.

like i said, im not 100% set on selling the car. i love the car, but it seems that when i get one thing fixed, something else breaks. when i finally get the stuff done that needs to be fixed, i'll start to think about things again. i guess the main problem is just the fact that its always down, and when i do what seems like simple things, the car takes forever to fix when something is down. cant talk much, in class.

I agree with Jspec. You're not going to make much $ on an old 240sx that needs work. If you're looking for a reliable replacement, I'd scratch off most of those cars off your list. The Alfas and maserati are very expensive to fix and are very unreliable. Those poops and giggles will wear off quickly, trust me.

The 240Z and 510's are 30+ yr old cars. You think too many things are wearing out on a 13yrd old 240sx, watch what happens when you double the age. Trust me, unless the car is completely restored, (whioch won't be cheap) or you're handy with a wrench, I'd avoid the 240Z/510 as a daily driver.

Maxima and Cressidas are nice cars too, but they are going to be more expensive to maintain and use because of the V-6's.

Celica, Civic, Sentra, Camry, 240sx, Corolla, Accord are all better choices for a young guy on a limited budget. Subie's not bad either. Just make sure you don't trade one headache for another.Good luck.

Odds are i wont sell the car. when i get all things fixed i'll probably wonder why i wanted to sell her....til something else breaks. right now im waiting to get new mounts because the header rubs against the steering column, a new front oil seal, and a power steering pump, which i was told would be shipped out over 2 wks ago. once those are fixed, the only other thing i could think of needing some fixing is a few suspension stuff, mainly the TC rods. shes a good car and runs well, but its the little things.

after this your car is probably done breaking on you. you did make Roxanne pretty mad when you ran her on 1 qt of oil, she should be done punishing you by now.

I crashed my 240 and bought a 4th gen maxima. I have had no problems since. I have suffered from rear wheel drive withdrawal too long. I will be picking up another 240 soon. Nick

woo hoo! the PS pump is here! i take back all the bad things i said about the guy. i think what happened is the box the pump was in had a stain on the side where somethign had leaked. they might have kept it there longer to make sure nothing was wrong. ok, Roxy, time to get something fixed so i still love you.

Cressida is a inline 6. Man I would say go for the cressida. They are such sweet cars. Comfort and power for a good price. Just watch the head gasket.

I know I have another one but I don't want to go throught the trouble of wiring, plus my friend Bill is going to buy it. I found a 91 with 4K on the new engine for under 1000. Sorry for Jacking your thread Megaseth. Hope you keep the 240 even if something else breaks. Nick
