okay okay, I know I've said this before, but I think I've found the one !

I have a couple questions about it though, so first lemmie show you guys the ad:

91 NISSAN 240SX 2-dr hatchback. Wht w/grey lea int. 5-spd. Sunrf, AC, p/mirrors, windows & locks, cruise, tilt. Incls rear brake pads. Runs great. Nds paint, left rear caliper, horn & rear brakes. 98.5K mi. Great car, cheap fix. $1500/bo

sounds worth looking at, huh? especially for $1500/bo. I donno though, how much are replacement calipers? or maybe I should just bite the bullet and upgrade to z32 calipers while I'm at it? how much do they go for on average?

also the grey leather.. has anyone ever heard of grey leather in a s13? I thought all the leather was that creme/tan color?

...and a broken horn?? wtf? I didnt really think that was much of a wear item... how much for a replacement for that? anyone have any ideas why a horn might go bad?

Anyways I think I'm gonna drive up to check it out and maybe buy it tomorrow- any advice you guys can give me, stuff to watch out for, etc? I know the basics.. but whatever-- help me out, its my first 240!!!

Congrats, hopefully it is the one!
I think it's usually around $200-300 to get that done, you'd need to redrill the rotors for 4 lug, though that shouldn't be too bad. <$500 totalQuote »also the grey leather.. has anyone ever heard of grey leather in a s13? I thought all the leather was that creme/tan color?
Grey, tan, creme... its all the same. Bottom line, from what I've heard it is incredibly uncomfortable. Plan on getting seats from an s14 and sticking them in if you want to not get back problems. Somone was just selling their grey leather s14 seats on here. You could probably get them for around $200.

Check for the usual rust spots (spoiler, hatch, etc), make sure all the gizmos and buttons work, check clutch, synchros, timing chain, wear on tires, maybe a carfax. Also definately test drive it. I'm sure you know most of this, just making sure... Good luck fiz!

Grey is a different color from tan/creme. They look really nice, but yes, they are very uncomfortable on the back (even with the lumbar adjuster), thats why I swapped S14 cloth seats.

S14 seats will bolt directly in if you decide to swap the S13 leather seats out. Good condition S14 cloth seats sell for $200/pair or less, and good condition S14 leather seats sell for $300/pair or less (ive seen black S14 leather for as high as $350).

Backseats are not a direct bolt-in, but people have put S14 backseats into their S13's before. It just takes some custom modification. It's not too common because no one really sits back there since its so cramped.

Hm thanks so much guys for the info! I'm definetly going to check it out tomorrow (check out my compressing testing thread if you havnt seen it already!), so I'll have pics for you guys either way.

I donno about the seats or whatever, I guess I'll decide if s14 seats are worth it after driving around for a while. Thanks for the tip, though. ;)

Uhmmm the guy also mentioned when I talked to him on the phone tonight that 2nd gear is a little tough to get into sometimes when reving over 2k. Anyone know what this might be? Im thinking possibly synchros or something but I'm not too much of a transmission expert. The way I figure, I can pick up a used transmission in good shape for like $200 or maybe even less. If the car is drivable and I can get it for like $1000 or maybe a little more I think it's still a good deal.

Annnd about this:

a rust check list : strut towers, near door hinges, under brake master cylinder, wheel well where it meets the bottom of body, hatch, spare tire well, under car above muffler(mines shot), rear floor boards lift up carpet to see(especialy if it has a sunroof), front subframe. just inspect it really good! and creaks or groans , physical damage or what not
