So is there any sure way to tell if you have a collapsed lifter? Its not the VTC gears since I have them disconnected momentarily and 1-2 of my injectors are starting to go out ( I have new ones waiting to go in) but I am still hearing a decently loud ticking noise and I cant figure it out. If anyone would shine some light on my situation it would be awesome.

Listen to the 4 valve covers, and see if the noise is loud in one or more of them - that probably means you have a bad lifter and it's time for a flush.

You can use a long screwdriver, or even a pry bar to listen to the valve covers...just stick the tip on one of the covers, and put the other end to your ear.

Yeah I did that stuff about a year ago now and it worked but it seems like it has returned with vengeance haha. It seriously sounds like sh*t lol. I will have to try listening and seeing where the noise is coming from later today.
