Ran the rb25det tonight and went against a d16a6 turbo crx 89 t3/t4 with chipped ecu. My cousins i helped build. Was freakin owining him totally from 1-4 and through 5. Did 2 full runs and i noticed the my engine rev was lowering and wouldn't let me go past 6200 soo i eased off and started to listen for pings or knocking. Nada. All sounded good and she was boosting like a damn maniac. So, i come to a stop light down the street from my house and she shuts off. So i try to crank and hear this grinding noise when i went to crank. It was dark soo i pushed it home and i'll be taking a look at it tomorrow. I'm thinking the worst which is pistons or rods. So i'm thinking new rb or rebuilt rb. I'm soo dissappointed with this damn swap soo far and i'm willing to go at it again but........ i'm gonna sleep on it tonight. Ohh by the way i was owning him untill the last run. When i started to loose higher rpm. She started to stutter with the ignition in the higher revs which was while i was full throttle. No detonation or knocking or pinging. I'll let you know what i find tomorrow. With pics.

no sir it's bad..... I had my wife and myself look around to see if we were leaking anything like coolant or oil. Nada. So i had her crank it and you can hear a clunking noise towards the first cylinder. Loud clunking but only at the front of the block. Soo it's going back the shop to see wtf happened. G-d Damn this beast. I think i'm gonna scrap it and buy an rx7 stock no upgrades. Anyone interested in buying the block, transmission, engine mounts and axle? I was also thinking of putting in a new block or even rebuild this one but i'm screwed if i need a new crank, rods or pistons. Unless i do the gtr swap but no one has had a definite answer on where to buy. If i go this route someone has to hook me up with the info here and i'll buy it this month full package as long as it's under $2000. Any help would be greatful indeed. Thanks fellas.

shop. Did timing belt and clutch. The guy does great work. It had to have been my fault i pushed it hard last night. But never got it anywhere close to 7000rpm. Yes the car has good fuel pressure and walbro 255lph pump. I did realize that it was missfiring at 6500 rpm on the way home soo i laid off of it and thats when it shut off and that was the end of it. I called the mechanic right now and he's gonna pick it up tomorrow. I'll have answers sometime this week. Man i want to rebuild it for about $2000 and then sell it. So, whoever wants it, it will be rebuilt.

HA HA I'M BACK B?TCHES. Just yanked the engine out today with the transmission still mounted. Woo hoo. Took a good amount of time. Anyhow, i have a new block on its way to me with the intake and exhaust mani still installed with all sensors and accessories such as power steering pump a/c turbo. shipping cost got me pissed. $800 + 370 shipping. Not to bad. Anyhow, just an update. things i'm replacing this time from the start.

sounds like it was detonating and cracked the pistons.5 dorra on it.

fellas i still didn't bother to figure out what happend. So since my rb was pissin me off since the start. I just forfeited and got a new motor.

doesnt play.. and you didnt even find out!?!, how are you gonna know what went wrong and learn from it, for all you know it coulda been something minor and you just bought a whole new motor... o.O then again coulda been what Carl said.. stil id a looked. if you dont learn history your bound to repeat it.

it's going on an engine stand today and i'll pull the oil pan off and look from the bottom and post pics. my buddy that helped pull the engine said it was probably a detached rod.

MOST JAPANESE computer need some fuel help from a SAFC or something if you going to run the engine hard on US gas. Its going to be lean under hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree, especially if you are still able to start it and it runs. just about anything else catastrophic would almost definately be too violent to in good sound mind start back up.
