No sir.

But if the front clip is good, you could buy that from him (after he buys it from the insurance company) and swap the motor / harness / etc.

Although the part numbers don't match up exactly, the VG30 block whether E or DE has the same bore and stroke, so compression ratio will change based on cylinder head, but that I have suspected all along is that all internals from VG30E, VG30DE, VG30DETT, and VE30DE will interchange, I would even go as far as to say the blocks are damn similar if no identical.

Blocks aren't the same, the E is a 5 bolt head design the DE is a 4 bolt design. The cranks will swap over. Not sure about the rods. The pistons are different.

Put simply, yes they will. The crank will fit, the pistons will fit (can't remember if the cylinder needs to be bored or not). The rods will work with your stock crank if that suits your fancy. Using your stock crank will avoid any potential problems with the accessories and water pump, but if this "built" motor is built right then it is balanced as an assembly so swapping the whole deal could be worth the hassle.

Details on the internals of this built motor?

Roach, due to differences in cylinder head design, the compression will be lower in the E than it would in the DE. For example, the stock NA DE pistons only run to the tune of 9.5:1 CR in a Z31. The stock TT pistons are in the 7.something range. Around 7:1 though unless my memory is too soggy.

By "5-bolt head design" do you mean head bolts, or did I suddenly become stupid? Most likely the latter is at least partly true but I am pretty sure that the E has 13 bolts per head. As a matter of fact, there isn't anything on the E's head that has 5 bolts. However, you are correct in that the blocks and heads are completely different between the E and DE.

If you look at the head, around each cylinder there are 5 bolts per hole. A few are shared but it comes out to 13.

The DE had only 4 bolts holding a cylinder on, giving 8? Sounds about right...

We'll use SBC and LS1 pics since the difference is the same...

Notice surrounding each cylinder 5 bolts provide clamping pressure

For the LS1, surrounding the cylinder there are 4 bolts... (save for the dinky little studs above the lifters)

heads won't. pistons, crank, rods, etc will. but a waste of time and money for an NA motor. waste of time and money if you aren't going to make more than about 400hp.

haha I'm not that retarded. want boost. who on earth would run 7:1 na? really?.... but built internals haven't asked yet but I know it was done by a performance shop and all internal goodness is forged from what I remember

Okay, gotcha.

Just remember Roach to mark everything when you take it out. If there isn't some indicator of which cylinder the piston/rod assembly goes to, then get the sharpie.
