pulled off my fuel rail today because something was stopping the fuel from passing through. upon further inspection, i found that my fpr (stock) was not allowing anything to go through it. it seems like this is the problem, i just am not sure if there is a valve inside that opens when the pressure gets high enough (higher than my lungs can produce). The fpr should let fuel through under a reasonable pressure shouldn't it?

Yeah the fpr releases excess fuel back to the fuel tank above a certain pressre, but I don't think you can create 40-50 psi to open it with your lungs. Might be able to open it with compressed air or something. The fuel pressure rises with increase in engine speed.

I'm going to check mine tonight too just to eliminate something else as a possible problem.

looks like i have a massive vac leak causing the car to not start. since there is no vacuum to pull the valve in the fpr, the fuel line is being blocked. now to find where this leak is...

or a weak fuel pump. when i put together my swap, i had the engine fuel system and harness done. NONE of the intake system. i turned it over to make sure it started. it would start, rev up slightly then imediately die. at the very least your car should try to start.

do you have a noid light? are your spark plugs firing? is your fuel line going to the proper hardline?

i have pulled both the spark plugs and injectors, and both are working properly. the only thing left that could cause it not to start is a massive air leak. and i did do a compression test as well, 150 or higher across the board...

Nissanman - this sounds scary familiar to the issues I'm having. I have seen a video of a guy starting his without the MAF even on the open intake pipe. Like Valley said, it started ran for two or three seconds and died. Maybe it was his video, I dunno?? I wouldn't think a vacuum leak would prevent it from at least igniting the fuel a few times. Mine doesn't even do that. Just turns over, then smells a little like gas.

haha u were right, i think it might have been a weak fuel pump. i was using the skyline pump that came with my motorset, then when i switched back to the ka pump it fired right up. i know i shouldn't be running on that pump for too long, so i guess it's time for an upgrade. but damn it's a good feeling when it starts...

since FPR is on the return side; injectors get fuel BEFORE it gets to the regulator... the fuel lines from the filter goes to the open line and the line from the FPR goes to the return line sound like you may have them reversed...
