So heres the deal, my '00 accord is having major electrical problems and I'm interested in getting the Altima Coupe 2.5s since my current limit is around 23k. Trying to decide on the color, and transmission. Is the six speed worth the long wait or should I just got for the CVT, I really want a stick though? Colors i am trying to decide on are Dark Slate, Super Black, and White. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks :]

im tellin ya, if you want a six speed, wait for the six speed then, dont give in and get a cvt, otherwise for the next 5years+ you will be wishing that you had the six speed. I only speek through experience, my wife wanted the cvt i wanted the 6 speed, so we made a compromise and got the cvt.

Same here. I don't even drive mine in auto mode. I get in it and switch it right to manual mode. Really wish I had waited for the 6 speed

im with the doc. CVT is nice, the manual mode is nearly as fun as a full on stick. I owned a 6spd Z28 for 2 years, and all i can remember is how heavy that dmn clutch would get in traffic. As if it wasnt heavy enough being a racing clutch with the factory master cylinder because nobody made a big bore master cylinder for them =/ . Traffic + 6 spd = nightmare CVT = fun of 6 spd without hassle.

It all is personal preference

So there only happens to be one brand new 6speed A/C 2.5s within the region (13 states) says Nissan. It only has the basic package no convenience package or anything :\. But the MSRP price is around 22k so I guess its all good. At least its a 6 speed and I don't have to wait to get it :]. Its a dark slate 2.5s and I'm most probably going to get that one.

Seriously...avoid the CVT on the 2.5!!! While I will openly admit that the whole CVT thing is an incredible design and is by far the best automatic I've ever driven, you WILL notice a difference in power/fun with the 2.5. I had originally wanted a slate A/C, but there were none in my area with the 6MT...since my other car had been recently run over by a city bus, time was of the essence and I opted for the black instead. While colour is important to me, it's MORE important to actually ENJOY driving the car!

Wait for the stick. The clutch is nice and light and the short throw shifter is awesome. Pick up in 3rd while passing is breathtaking. I'm so glad I insisted on the 6MT for mine. I'm lovin' it more every day!

The only dif I see in the CVT vs Manual is the 1st gear take off. Evenin manual mode the CVT doesn't throw you back like a stick would....buthaving said all that....

I went back and forth between getting a manual or an auto. The manualwould have been sweet....but I do so much stop and go driving thatI think I would have lost my left leg on the clutch. I felt like I compromisedon the CVT originally, but after actually owning it....It is really fun to driveand I don't miss a manual AT ALL (except the 1st gear take off.)

If we were talking about a regular auto....for sure don't even consider it,but if you are on the fence don't worry about the CVT...you'll love it. I found the manual shifter to be a bit to far forward to really be considereda sport shifter. It should sit back a bit more IMO.

I love my CVT.

But I also agree.....if you are set on something.....Get it. Get it the wayyou want it. If you have to have a manual...get a manual. Don't wannabe 10 months down the road kicking yourself.

after my wife and i compromised and decided to get the CVT. i was very hesitant because i had always hated cvt's i had driven several fords and mitsubishi's and a couple toyotas that had all had cvt's and they were all completely rubbish, just crap.. now im not endorsing the cvt on the coupe or anything, but this is the best cvt i have ever driven anywhere it is top notch, i am still unsure of its ability to handle high horsepower, but thankfully adidas2go is boosting his, so soon i will know its capabilities.

I dumped my motorcycle and had left knee surgery 2 weeks ago. While I am out of the brace finally, the knee is still pretty stiff. Yesterday I had a follow-up appointment with my orthopedist and drove 73 miles with my 6MT just using heel-toe action, basically. I've owned manual transmission cars all my life (VW, Sentra, Corolla) and the clutch on the 2.5 is the smoothest and lightest I have ever experienced by far. While I agree that if you are stuck on the freeway in heavy traffic each and every day, the CVT is probably a better choice, luckily I live in the boonies where traffic is not a concern. Even so, were I still living in the city I would probably still choose the 6MT because of the winter road conditions here.
