Did you keep the records from the other oil changes? This is a must do, unfortunately. I get my every other oil change done at non-Infiniti places (and this still meets their 7500 mile change spec), and keep all those other records - just in case!Chi-town M45 wrote:Talk to the dealer this morning and they are saying the compression test came up outta spec and they will be requesting an ENTIRE new motor via infiniti. He told me it would be rebuilt which i'm not thrilled about...he also said they only have about half of the oil change history on my M which is going to be a factor in getting approved for a new motor.
Hmmm ... you should be okay with a rebuilt engine, even though new would be better. But, trading it in is an option regardless.Chi-town M45 wrote:At this point i'm already thinking about trading it in....
Yes, but what does rebuilt mean? why not just an all new one?auditech10 wrote:I dont see why a rebuilt engine would bother you that much. You will get the same warranty from the dealer with a new one or a reuilt one.
I was just wondering what rebuilt means on these motors. Internal parts are all new? etc. etc.Q45tech wrote:Probably will be an all new engine because that all they usually have in warehouse, however your car is not new almost 5 years old so why would you deserve a betterment.
they are recommending a long block and apparently infiniti is deciding on that as we speak. the dealer said i should expect an answer by the end of the day today....he told me it is between 9-12 grand in warranty work! if thats the case they should just put the LS7 from the Z06 in the M!ClutchKick wrote:if its a warranty repair, then it will be a new motor... weither it is a short block or a long block, that depends on what the service advisor was able to get out of infiniti...
When its all said and done, go ahead and post up the repair order or the part numbers used and I can give you a full explination of what they did... (then again, if you are getting warranty work done at an infiniti dealer they should be specific with you on everything they did!)
good to go. my biggest concern at this point is when I get it back making sure everything works. there is alot of electrical stuff on this beast and i dont know how much of it they have to disconnect to pull the motor.ClutchKick wrote:MSRP on the new Long Block is: $7448.66
Warranty allows for around 8-10 hours of labor...
Warranty pricing on parts and labor is a bit different... (less)
