hey guys,

i was wondering what are your rb25det's standard boost given the fact that everything is standard??? i have a fully standard rb 25det and it is showing a max boost of 0.4 bar.

i was wondering, what is the maximum amount of boost this engine can take without blowing up, being a reliable daily driver??? i already have a rb26 after market intercooler, oil cooler, hks pod air filter, blitz BOV, and thats it.

so guys tell me before i increase boost to 0.8 and find out the hard way that my enigne/turbine cant cope with that kinda boost. i also am affraid of killing the turbine bearing.

.8 bar shouldn't blow your rb25 up. but that is going to be near the limit of that turbo i belive. I believe the wheel cant take much more after that. if u do turn up the boost just make sure it doesn't detonate and id say you'd probably be fine.

will my standard oil pump work as well... i only have a max of 4-6 bar (when flooring) of oil press.... this does not include my oil cooler. with an oil cooler i'm sure the press is going down a little....

there is a guy on here pushing 24 psi of boost on stock internals. But the turbo and injectors have been upgraded. he is putting out like 540 something HP.

i was gonna ask the same question, im selling my civic to buy an rb25 for my 240, i hear the stock turbos are weak but the internels can hold up, i plan on pushing 500 550 to the wheels when im done, but i just need to do my research on here before i start upgrading anything.

i wouldnt boost past 10 conservatively and 13 is MAX and i didnt go that far, Jazz made 540 stock internals and hg i THINK. at 10psi i mad 280 hp but blew turbo on dyno and i think had a boost leak, i was perfectly happy with my rb at 280 but its under the knife again for more work hehe

I'm sure everyone knows boost is irrelevant when figuring reliability. 450 reliable HP is the figure always thrown around for RB25's in the aussie forums.

hey stricNyne,

was your engine running entirely stock when you were pushing 10psi??? hitting 280 whp is important for me... i want to get there with minimum engine mods... however i am planning to install an N1 oil and water pump before i increase my turbine size.... i was wondering if you could do 300 hp with the standard oil and water pumps???

RBtally made 587rwhp on not just STOCK but ORIGNIAL (as in never changed) head gasket, water and oil pump, and turbo....ok J/K about the turbo lol but everything internal stock.

hey 300plus,

thank you for giving me the confidence in boosting my engine!!! hahahha.i am not quite ready to bolt on a larger turbo but would like to try to retune my ecu with a piggyback ecu which i was told would increase power by 20%. thats huge is if it true. i wonder about the benifits of a piggyback ecu as appose to a stand alone ecu like a power fc, motec, haltec, autronic...

i would like to take the route of the standalone but they are too costly and there arent anyone here who is willing to sell one to me used...

if there are any out there among yall who is willing to sell a stand alone to me give me a holla.

buy a PFC. Buying a piggyback for a RB25 is like putting a bandaid on a gun shot wound. They go for 650-750 new with hc.

The Rb25DET's over here in AUS tend to drop the comp ratio down to 8.6:1 via a head gasket, run cams with 98ron fuel and push 500+ fwhp (400rwhp+).

Pushing this power running the stock high comp without cams tends to lead to ring land breakage as they are too highly strung. :P
