hey guys should I get a 4th generation maxima or a 97 240sx. My friend took me to nopi in his v6 Maxima with a act clutch and that **** was buring people left and right. I heard that the Maximas engine is more powerful.

:slap go 240! the maximas' VQ engine series is more powerful than the KA24 in the 240, but the aftermarket support for the 240 is unbelievable. the maxima however, doesnt get half as much support.

Yeah definately go 240 unless you need a family car. If two back seats is a priority, you won't find it in the 240.

I don't know.... if you can find a 95-96 Maxima 5-spd. You won't regret buying it. and as far as aftermarket support... It's there you just need to look for it. ;-)

if it was me, i would go with the 240...i have a 95 and enjoy it a lot, RWD is so much more fun to drive with than FWD. better weight distribution as well. i also prefer the look of a 240 over most other cars on the road. but if u have the money, why not get a 300zx.

yeah its the best of both worlds. rear wheel with serious power and after market support that you can find anywhere. Even the old 300z turbos are great cars. I own a 89 turbo and the feel and power of it is wonderful.

My friend has a 95 Maxima 5-spd with a lot of stuff done to it. Now maybe I've just never seen any 240sx's out here that are worthy or mentioning but he toasts pretty much everything out there. (Z28's, Mustang GT's, etc...) And there's not much like pulling up in "your mom's car" and then smoking the crap out of a "faster" more expensive sports car. (true the FWD does put a small damper on things)

I own a 98 Maxima aftermarket support is there. Now the freaking problem in my opinion is FW vs RW. Ans is RW drive. As posted above I wish my max was rear wheel drive. But after spanking numerous V8s and the new 350Z, view on peeps face priceless.

all imma say is...look at the front of end of a 97-98 240sx, look it dead on the eye and say "id rather have a maxima than you."

*sYke* But that front end will mesmerize you for sure

yes, id have to say i wish i got an s13. They weigh less and they're way cheaper. I love the looks of my 97 (well, i did before a lady ran a red light and bashed the front up) way more than an s13, but if I could sell my 240 without losing money, id do it in a heartbeat for an s13. My buddy has a V6 Maxima, I took it for a drive and all I have to say is DAMN would that thing smoke the living piss out of my car (only has intake and exhaust).

from what ive heard the s14 is lighter than the s13, or at least it has a faster 0-60 time stock.

It's not lighter by any means, I can gaurantee that. My buddy has an s13 with a sunroof. My car is a base with almost nothing and definately no sunroof, and I can feel the weight difference, my car felt nimble til I drove that (and a miata, lol).

it might be the suspension, it was changed in the last model (95+) to be more comfortable and less sporty...for some reason they were aiming for an older age group, and i think thats why they decided to keep the low powered engine. ive heard the newer 240 does something like .8 seconds faster in the 0-60 than the previous models, tho i could be wrong.
