my starter got replaced a week ago, all was good until today i have a problem

it was 8 am and i was on my way to school and the car started up harsh (15 deg outside freezing!)

it was good for about 3 seconds, and then it died. i tried starting it up again and all you hear is the sound of a car SCRANKING but not SPARKING UP, i have no idea what this is and i ran out of money for the mechanic to bring the car backfor him to fix..

so the car cranks, but wont start :[ help :]

First things to check would be whether you're getting spark and fuel.

I only have that issue when it is cold outside. But mine starts. I think mine is the fuel filter.
