Other than the stylish sunroof of the maxima, and other luxery items, is there really any difference in the ride quality and handling of these two Nissans? Assuming a 3.5 altima, of course...

The Maxima is a sexy looking car. Also squeezes 20 more horses out of the engine.

It`s more of a luxury car than the Altima.

The build quality and interior of the Maxima are better imo.

I've never driven a Max*, but I'd assume the ride is more sedated due to its target demographic and higher curb weight.

07 or 09 maxima???

the 07 maximas were slower than the A/c... both because it had less horsepower and also because it was heavier... i had an 07 maxima as a rental, and I swear i think the 2.5 A/C is peppier than that sluggish a$$ 07 Maxima was.

in terms of quality interior, I think the NIssan Altima -SER had a better qiality interior than any of the recent Nissans or 07 maximas... but the 09 Maxima definately has a nicer inteior than the Altima..

One question you guys should wonder is how in the heck did the Altima overtake the maxima in comfort, luxury offers, horsepower last year... i mean, the maxima use to be the flagship.. the maxima use to be the one compared to the Accord, and then, somehow, it bacame the Altima..

anyway, that was off topic,.. I would say the 09 maxima wins in the luxury / comfort department, and a fully loaded Maxima is only a few thousand more than a fully loaded A/C... but if LUXURY is what you're after, it seems to me that for the price of a fully loaded 09 Maxima, you'd get better bang for the buck with a g35 sedan... those things are SEXY!!!!!!!!!!!

I read about the Maxima in Motor Trend, along with the comparison report to the Pontiac G8 (ew a Pontiac?! Even the word "pontiac" is ugly and outdated). The editor said that if you slapped an Infiniti label on the steering wheel in place of the Nissan emblem, no one would be able to tell otherwise, and I agree. The handling of the FWD Maxima is compared to that of the RWD Porsche GT3 (I believe it was GT3).

I almost would consider a Maxima if I want to get a sedan again. I looked at the G37 and FX45 yesterday. Not bad. I rode alongside this dude who worked for Inifiniti and was driving the G37 - didn't sound as impressive as its predecessor (unfortunate). I may consider moving onto a used G35x after my 05 Altima and I are done, or it's paid off.
