Long story short, I got my hands on a late 80s Max w/ a 5sp that runs good but looks bad and the gears started turning. I have the whole she-bang so I have the ECU and wiring harness ETC. If I have to get into swapping trans and problems w/ motor mounts Im not interested, just curious if its even remotely possible. Sounds like it would be a fun swap as long as it doesnt take TOO much work.

Nevermind. I was drawing a blank on the V6 eng code and once I remembered it I was able to do a search and found its not worth the hassle.

Well is there anything worth keeping off the car (ie. swaps into an S13) or should I just puff it up and offload it. Or maybe Ill just drive it and get better mileage than my SUV.

The S13 shared components with the early 90s Maxima, but not the late 80s Maxima (unless you refer to the 89-94 Maxima as the late 80s model). The climate controls from the 89-94 models of both Maxima and 240sx are identical, for instance. Because of the huge difference between the cars, it's mostly interior pieces that would be interchangeable. I believe seats will work, if you use the S13 mounting brackets.

If it's an 84-88 Maxima, it won't share much (if anything) with the S13.

Honestly, I'd keep the Maxima unless you would rather get money out of it. It's a decent platform, independent suspension all around (unless it's a wagon), and the VG is a good, dependable, long-lasting powerplant with a fair amount of potential. It'd make a great daily driver if nothing else (my 93 gets mid-upper 20s fuel milage when driven hard). But that's just me.

84-88 is what I am referring to. The car runs real well, just has no brakes right now and the body is kinda beat up. (needs a left fender and misc dents fixed and to be repainted) I think the AC may even work...I dont remember.

The whole idea was more of a crazy thought/ waste of time. I cant find the time to finish building my high comp. 240 motor and I was thinking motor swap. DUUUH!

Thanx for the advice tho, I may just make it a driver. I always liked those cars.
