Random question - do you guys think it's possible to put the new maxima steering wheel on the a/c? All of the buttons are the same (nav controls, buttons, etc) and such, and I just like the 3 spoke better than the one we have on our car. Any thoughts on if you can do it?

yep it's possible, you'd have to ask your dealer for that or you could get someone else, but they'd have to know how to deal with the air bag

this is the official start of the race for the the first A/C with a maxima steering wheel! go go go!

ok that's it, my laptop screen is stretching everything. sliding it over to my monitor shows it right.

changes the resolution, fixed.

The wheel looks good

I couldnt find a good pic of the wheel with all of the buttons on it that i could copy into the forum - all of the buttons exist on both wheels, they're just placed differently. This is for a model without the nav - if you go to nissan's website and look at the pics, there is the nav buttons on the wheel - i just can't copy that picture very well...

youre right....i see them in a different pic.

i like the wheel and wouldnt mind having it on my ride, but i dont think you could just exchange steering wheels with the airbags and all. i could be wrong though.

The airbag would probably need to be deployed first. Air bags are expensive and I am going to say this upgrade is going to be very expensive. Alot more money than its worth in my opinion. The labor fee alone is going to be balls deep.

yea the steering wheel will probably be around $1000 since it has an airbag in it, adn the labor will probably be just as outrageous. a really expensive mod for a small change.

although the Maxima's steering wheel is heated.......

And let's not forget..If this can be done and have the paddle shifters integrated then it's worth the swap! ,

The complexity of making the paddle shifters operational (IMO) would be much higher than w/o the paddle shifters, but that WOULD BE kick a$$$$$

Eww, that steering wheel looks like it's for old people with those huge buttons and whatnot.

And those interested in paddle shifters-- another reason I personally bought an AC was because it had manual CVT shift mode... paddle shifters suck! Have you ever driven a Lancer or another vehicle with paddle shifters? Yuck!!

Marlin- just go to an aftermarket shop or try another Dealer if you really want to do it.

I've driven both a lancer and the 09 Maxima and I would have to say the Max's paddle shifter set up was a lot smoother. I liked the fact that on the Max. when you put it in "drive" it's in auto mode untill you either tough the shifter or the paddles, then it's in manual mode

It all comes down to personal preference I guess

Eh, it was more of a "this would be cool to do" instead of a "OMGWTFBBQ I NEED THIS."

Even though I wear a seatbelt all the time, I don't want to risk not having an airbag deploy or deploy incorrectly - it's just not worth it.

It still would be cool though

Dangeris-- I agree paddles are definitely personal taste-- but also I've only tried the paddle shifters on two different types of cars and they were substantially different from each other in terms of performance; however from my point of view they were nothing compared to the AC's manual CVT. Again, perhaps the Maxima's paddles are amazing and I've just never tried them.

Marlin- I know what you mean and I agree that no mod is worth possible safety issues.
