I own a 96 Maxima. It runs but few times a day when im sitting still at like an intersection, my car completely just shuts down. It never shuts down while i apply gas. But i notice that i lose alot of power sometimes while im driving and cant get the rpm to rise...only sometimes. So basically i have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it from shutting down. I have a feeling when i went thru a deep puddle during monsoon season it got into my engine. A few sensors are malfunctioning but my next door neighbor a mechanic says its something else besides my sensors. he told me to just get carb spray and it should work.

No the lights don't dim. But i did try what my neighbor suggested and i felt like it might have worked because i cruised around i didnt feel any signs of the car losing any power. But i can't really say until tomorrow.

I would agree with your Neighbour. You should also check out your fuel and air filters!
