Does anyone know if a 1995 Nissan Maxima remote works on a 1995 Q45. The reason I'm asking is that I'm having trouble programming it. Also, are there any known electrical problems with this system that would prevent programming?

I just got back from the dealer. They replaced an upper link that they installed about a 10 months ago(8000 miles). i was told that the maxima remote wouldn' t work on the Q45. They also pointed out a slight difference that i hadn't noticed. Instead of the dome light button on the Q45 remote, the maxima remote has a horn button. They also told me the 1995 Q45 doesn't flash the hazards/signals when it goes into program mode. Can anyone confirm this?

My 1995 Q did not flash its hazards when it went into program mode. But the programming succeeded just fine. So the dealer is probably right... of course, I am speaking from recent experience, not any certain knowledge.

On the other hand, I still have no explanation as to why my original remote stopped beeping one day - still works fine but does not beep. Very aggravating. My new one does not beep either. Professor Mike did not have an answer either, so I assume it is just one of those things ...

I think there was a post on the old board stated that even the new replacements for the early years do not beep either. I guess they figured that when the trunk opened we woul dknow or when the interior lights came on theat we would know. My 93 J30 still beeps and it is a nice feature but I guess as with anything, cost reductions take over.

Thanks for the input guys! I feel much better now. Now, all I have to do is find the correct remote.

Hmmm ... on 1995 Q, the remote did beep when I first got the car (in 1998). It just stopped beeping one day (some years later) for no reason that I could tell. Worked fine and battery replacement did not do anything either. Argh!

In my wife's Acura, you can disable/enable the car horn toot by pressing and holding down two keys on the remote momentarily. This is a good thing! I like our remotes to have the horn toot (so that we are certain that we pressed the key when walking away from it).

I miss the beep on my Infiniti remote! I used to be able to rely on it to let me know I had definitely opened the trunk from my room in my house before I walked down the stairs with a load for the dry-cleaners! :( Now I have to hold for a longer while to be sure.

I have the switchable, programmable remote chirp on my Clifford Avant Guard on my Legend. Of the few 1994-1995 I have seen operate, never heard the beep.

Therefore, I wonder if you had an earlier remote, or if indeed the beeps continued into 1995.

My 1995 Q was put into service in December 1994. So maybe it was from the "old batch" and had the beeping remote - I dunno for sure, I guess. My only issue is that it stopped beeping after a few years! No known reason that the dealer could tell me or anyone here knew about.
