I found some old posts relating to the use of a Maxima MAS (part #22680-2Y001) in a Pathfinder and I'd like to thank all the members who identified this as an option. The OEM Pathfinder unit cost was $435; the Maxima OEM was $88. I read a lot about the cheap design and high failure rates of non-OEM MAS units; using this unit saved me close to $350 and I ended up with a genuine Nissan part. It was a perfect fit and required no re-programming. Fist thing I did was disconnect the battery, both terminals. I swapped the units & in the process cleaned the throttle body, all the inlet pipes and air filter housing since I had everything apart (put in a new air filter as well). Only difference between the units is that the Pathy has a 4 wire harness attached to the sensor; the Maxima unit had 5, but the Pathy harness fit (apparently the fifth terminal is not used in the Pathfinder). When I started the car all existing codes were cleared ( I was getting lean left bank and engine knock codes), and the car ran better than it had in many years; even the pinging I was getting going up hills and under load disappeared and the power gain was amazing. Two weeks later and many miles, the car runs great; hints like these are always appreciated!
