You definitely need to flush the coolant.

Have you checked to make sure the blend door is opening and closing properly?

With the coolant looking like that there's a good chance the heater core is clogged. My 3rd gen suffered from that all of the time due to a crappy JDM engine swap.

Anyways... I'd just get the whole system flushed very thoroughly and put in some fresh coolant, that should fix the problem if it is indeed clogged up.

Its pretty common for cars to go a very long time without changing the coolant, which can definitely cause issues like that.

i have flushed the system about 6 times this year same result and i also notice the reserve tank or overflow tank is always full and sometimes it leaks i cant seem to understand the prob and this has been and on going problem with this max i dont drive it often but when i do drive it i need heat.the only thing yet to be checked with the heating system in this car is the heater control valve and the heater core which i think everybody is telling me is the problem i will call the dealer and find out how much it will cost to fix the heater core if its too much i will just go to a radiator shop pick up the part from the dealer and make them fix it for me at a cheaper rate

thanks for the reply guys really appreciate it a lot
