maxima engine & transmission reliabilty

I am looking to purchase a 02 maxima 6 spd with 135000 miles but is very clean and the carfax report shows no problems. How many miles would I expect to get out of this vehicle. Also is there any known engine/transmission problems between 1998-2002.

Any input would be apprciated.

My 98 Maxima has an excellent engine and transmission. Carhas 113,000 miles.

look up the consumer report on the year of maxima you want to purchase...that way you will get the best average of "usual repairs". How long the car lasts also depends on they type of driver you are.

I've got almost 130k on my 02 auto and have had no engine or trans issues since I got it at 97k just routine maintence ie brakes, plugs, tie rod and fluids. Its a pretty solid car I wouldn't base your jugement on Consumer Reports as this model year didn't get the best reviews. Check out the blogs on edmunds.com to get some real world reviews.
