This one is for the electronics buffs....Im wondering if it's possible to swap out our dash cluster for the one on the new Maxima...

It's got all the same information, it just looks a whole lot cooler...It looks like it's the same size, but I don't know if it would work...any ideas???

What good would that do? The part number would be different for sure, but it doesn't speak about the compatability of the part...

I wonder what the CVT light is for

The dash cluster is the brains of the car for the most part... right behind the ECU in the scheme of things.

I dont think it would work, the only way you will know is by giving it a shot though!

the mileage of your car is set on the dash cluster, so replacing it will show the wrong mileage.

I have thought about this and it is just crazy...

What if I were to be hualing some 2x4s in the back of my Coupe (Yea...I know) and I had to slam on the brakes and one of the boards shattered my cluster. Do I have to drive around with a sticker for the rest of the cars life that says "Actual mileage + 20,000" or something like that? They would at the dealership have to be able to program the mileage into a cluster...I would imagine they would be able to RAISE the mileage very easily, and rolling it back would void a LOT of stuff.

having ur cluster broken without totalling a vehicle must be tough..... but in that very rare case, im sure the dealership is the only way to go for programming in the mileage.

Regular dealerships cant program your clusters mileage, theres a whole process to it, but it can be changed to reflect the actual mileage... Just like if the clusters mechanics failed.

I never realized that the data was actually stored in the dash cluster - I was always under the impression that it was stored in the ECU...

O well! Thought it was worth a shot!
