I have 1995 maxima 197k miles. Starting is the problem. Car began to not idle and to turn off at stops. I had a new injector and new plugs put in. Car was running great except now the car does want to start all the time. In the morning first thing it is fine but around lunch the car will turn over but not crank. You have to give the car about 5 or 6 pumps of the gas while turning the key to get the thing to crank. Then a be cloud of smoke and smell of gas comes from the tailpipe. Any help would be great.

Starter? poor connection on the cables to the battery? Coil packs? Actually doesn't quite sound like coil packs...

Sounds like you need to change the fuel filter, or the pump may not be building enough pressure all the time.

i recently had the problem before my car broke down for other reasons. I changed the FPR and nothing but what fixed my issue of cold morning or cold starts in general not wanting to start until after a few twists at the key and a few pumps of the gas pedal was my fuel pump......more than likely its that if anything invest in a walbro 255
