I have seen turbo and SC maxs actually lose power after installing aftermarket cams. There is only a few hp to gain by them N/A and the cost is not worth result. Plus there have been idol and Emissions problems, if it could be a factor. There are still a few more things that can be done to increase power before going there. I'd drop in a 3.5 before I put cams in the VQ30de.

ChorayPS. I loved the polished intake manifold at NOPI.

You definitely want a good tune when you get AM cams...it will give your car ****loads of top end power but you will lose some low end. If you don't have all the mods in the book, I wouldn't suggest doing cams. Number one, it's a very difficult job. Number two, they're very expensive (expect to pay over $1000). Number three, as an auto, you would benefit much more from a 5-speed swap which could easily be done for just a bit more than the cost of cams (and probably less if you are going to pay someone to install the cams for you..)

EDIT: just peaked at your cardomain, and if I'm reading it correctly, you don't have any sort of AFC. This is a definite must when you get headers, as you run veeery lean up top. This should be your next mod. i would suggest Emanage Ultimate and of course you need a wideband. With EU, you can control just about everything under the sun and it also provides datalogging for anything you want. Your car will benefit from this MUCH more than it would from cams and it's considerably cheaper (you can get it for around $600, but it's ~$700-800 new with the harness)

so, out of curiosity...just what exactly can i do with the emanage ultimate? im assuming your talking about the one from greddy? i top out at around 125mph now, can i remove this limiter with it? im not too knowledgable about the computer aspects of our cars...other than i think they suck and should have been programmed with a ton more hp/torque! lol! $500-$600 doesnt sound like too bad of a price if its worth it. i basicaly have every other type of bolt-on made for our cars so i know i could see some benifits out of a good tune job. i had originally planned on buying an se model's ECU and exchanging it for mine (since there is no speed limiter) then having it "reprogrammed" to take advantage of my mods. but, should i do the emanage instead, both, or what? and if ANYONE could PLEASE help me find out where in the crap i could get a GOOD tune for my car!! i hear of guys going to the tune shop to have their cars tuned but i cant find anyone around my area that knows what im talking about! or if they do, they dont know anyone that can do it!! so please help...any info on either situation would be great!!!

Yes, you definitely want the Greddy Emanage Ultimate and it will probably be your most worthwhile mod yet. You can extend the rev limiter, add more fuel past redline (aka extending the rev limiter), adjust the timing through various different methods (ie: air or water temp., fuel, etc.), adjust the AF (of course), and even a two step limiter (I don't suggest you use this if you have a cat) among a plethora of other functions...You basically have control over almost any aspect of your car. Once you do this, it is vital that you do a dyno tune (any local dyno shop will know what you're talking about) because it's in a much more controlled environment than on a street. You are running rich with all of those mods, so once you get that thing tuned your car will come alive...EU is better than anything else on the market right now, and like I said before, it's totally worth the $$.
