Hey, replacing the rotors and pads on all four wheels of my 99 Maxi GLE, and I was wondering if anyone has the FSM or just knows offhand what the size of the nut on the hub spindle is? I don't have anything to measure it with, but its pretty massive, at least bigger than an inch and a quarter. So. If anyone can tell me the metric socket I need to remove that bugger, I'll love you forever. Thanks.

You should not need to remove the hub nut to remove the rotors. They should come off once the calipers are removed. If they seem "stuck" try lightly tapping with a soft rubber mallet.

I can see now that you're right, gonna see if I can convince this thing to come off.

So, umm, you're replacing the rotors. Just go ahead and "convince" them with a hammer. Just make sure you don't hit any of the studs or you'll be replacing those as well.

If they still haven't come off, try to spray some PB Blaster or WD40 inside the rotor where it meets the hub. Spray it from the backside. If you are going to have the rotors turned and reuse them, be careful as to how hard to tap them. You don't want to warp or bend the rotors. If you will be replacing them all together, beat the crap out of them, and they'll come off. Just be careful as to not bend anything else. I'd still use a soft rubber mallet.

stick a screwdriver in the vanes on both sides and walk it off. [alternate push pull]

unless there trash, then hammer from back.
