so my ? is the cali emissions max a 100A that turns into a 110A or did someone install the wrong part?

As for the alternator, I could not see any labels or markings on mine. If you buy an OEM alternator, you will be assured that you have the correct one.

welcome aboard.

the dealership might be able to tell you whether or not you have cali or fed emissions. i believe that the alternator on the 4th gens runs about $500-$700 labor and parts, if you go with OE nissan alternator. the bad thing is, nissan will not accept anything but a nissan alternator as a core. (at least around here) good luck with it, and feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Hi,I replaced an alternator 2 month ago to 96' I30. I bought it on Autozone. They have thier brand alternator, but you can see "nissan" on the cover that is OEM part. It is remanufactured with nissan plastic cover. It cost about $250 which has core value. So the actual cost was $160.

If you have some tools like sockets, you can do it. It will take about 1 hour. You don't need to take cooling fan out if two people works. At first disconnected battery, and take the serpentine belt off, and A/C compressor. You can reach a long nut which is through the back side of alternator. Some harness work.

Thanks.

I replaced mine when I had my Max, and it's as easy as Ryan says. You can use a higher amp alternator, and you will be fine. Actually, it is not a bad thing to have higher amps.

You can buy alternators that have different outputs

For instance an alternator for an rv motorhome is more powerfuldue to all the electrical requirments

Before you buy from Autozone, be sure to check with Joe (Scottsdale Infiniti) or from their website at everythingnissan.com. They have a special shipping rate for this month - $5 flat.

The quality of parts from AutoZone, IMO, is much better than Kragen. Though both stores usually give a replacement warrranty (limited), it's a real pain when your alternator die and you are in the middle of nowhere. Not happened to me yet (knock on wood). However, buying and OEM is still preferred, as long as the price difference is not much.

Another way is to go to an electrical shop and have it repaired. Most of the time, it's the internal diode(s) that has failed.
