Sounds like it might be temperature-related. Maybe the replacement sensor was still bad? Are you still seeing the CPS code, or was that cleared when you replaced the sensor? OR did it come back later?
It's hard to say from this info alone, but some possibilities:
1: the replacement CPS was bad (or went bad) as well
2: there's something temperature-related that's killing off your crank position sensors, or at least causing them to temporarily malfunction until underhood temperatures drop
3: there's some other underlying problem that's causing the CPS to fail
I doubt you want to keep throwing parts at the car, but I would try to verify that the current CPS is working, and then go from there.
