Hi all.

I'm working on getting my car back on the road... err road ready and I'm trying to take care of these pesty check engine codes.

I had one before i stopped driving it and when i turned it on about a month ago it was the same one *Autozone checked*

I went to a garage had it fixed. It was for the evap canister.

Now im getting a completely different code..

P0138 - Oxygen sensor?

Could the fix of one lead to the downfall of this? Before my car wasn't even showing this error, now that i had it repaired this error is popping up.

Also advice to look into for a sitting car? should i use fuel cleaners etc

Thank you all SOOO much who responds, I'm at a loss.

Welcome to NICO.

It would be better to have all fluids replaced - engine oil, transmission, brake fluid. P/S fluid, etc.

As for the P0138. it could be for real or maybe due to loose/poor connections. The trouble code P0138 refers to HO2S2-B1 (Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor, Bank 1). Bank 1 is for cylinders 1-3-5 and located towards the firewall. The O2 sensor is mounted on the horizontal portion of the Bank 1 Pre-Cat with a WHITE harness and a 4-wire connector mounted near the radiator (together with Bank-2 O2 sensor connectors). Check/clean the connector. Also check/clean the main engine harness ground points (near oil filler cap). After cleaning the connections. add a bottle or 2 or Redline SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner (or something similar w/ PEA) on a full tank of gas and see if the problem goes away.

If the problem persisted, then you need a new O2 sensor. Best pricing for O2 sensors and spark plugs are from "sparkplugs.com" a.k.a. "NGK.com - NGK P/N: 24574 (@ $90) or Bosch P/N: 13374 (@ $120). If you are resourceful enough, you may be able to get it cheaper from Amazon.com.
