I’m wondering what’s the max width I could put on my G50 with out rubbing what have you guys tried? I have it lowered with cali customs on 19’s x 8.5 but I want to remove those mud flaps and see some beefy tires SO people stop asking me if its front wheel drive@! and so it looks good. Thanks again.

It is usuallly cast on the insde of the wheel. Take it off, or observe it on a lift. Might measure it also as some posted here seem to be incorrect.

While the car is on the ground, crawl under there, and measure the distance between the tire sidewall and the spring. This is what will hit first on the inside.

an 8.5" wide wheel, with a 19" diameter will probably only handle a tire width of 265.

I have 275/35/18's on my 18" x 9" rims, with a 45 MM offset. There is about 5/8" clearance.

I gotta say that my 265s fit on my 8.5s VERY nicely, but theyre just a little too wide for the offset i chose.

275/40/18 fit nicely in the rear, even lowered, with a tiny bit of fender rolling.

so for now I'm looking to get 255/40/19 for the front... I'm not sure if it’s going to rub or not, I'm going to talk to the local tire shop. For the rears I'm set on 275/40/19 but I don’t know if those will fit, I'm worried about the rear more then the front because I really want to fill in the gap, I’m going for the european look where the tires are some what tucked and it looks clean . need some input please thanks. PS I have a 2 inch Cali custom drop and 235/35/19 tires on now and they have never rubbed. THANKS!

Is there a reason you want to run such huge tires front and rear? If you don't have any major hp mods, you will prob barely have enough power to adequately put those tires to full use... and the car will actually feel more sluggish driving around

i agree with one-ton. Those sound like some really serious tire measurements to put on. My green G50 is said to have the European look and I am running 235-45-17 in the front and 255-45-17 in the back.Jeff Williams can chime in here because he has put some serious rubber on his wheels where I think that he is running 285's in the rear, but I think that they are on 18-inch wheels with deep lips. They look nice, so you have many options; especially since you have the lowering springs. Here is a pic of the green G50:

I've got 245-45-17 on the front and 245-40-18 on the rear ....

Front no rubs with the cali springs, can go a little bigger:

Rear, no rubs so you can go bigger:

265-40-18 is as big as I would go in the rear with what I have.

i just picked up a set of tires that came off a 7 seriers bimmer. i currently have 245/35/19. i bought 245/40/19 and 275/45/19 105 Y. BOTH front and back couldnt fit. I couldnt believe i just spend $100 for the stupid test fit. my rims are 19X9.5. the tires fit good on the rim but were rubbing on the front pretty bad and on the rears too. any ideas from any one thx

damn that sucks, i was trying to get some 255/40/19s for the front but i might want to re think that hmm, what year is your Q, how bad on the back did it rub i want 275/40/19, what did the tire shop say the biggest you can fit is?

Im running 235/35/19 load rating 91,all around and they have never rubbed, but I want to fill in the gaps because the tires look to small wish i got 20+ rims and the same series tires, then it would be sweet!

hahha im the same i wish i got 20 inch rims.. but only other way aroudn it is to lower the car but thats not something i would do. only because i drive my car in the winter. the car is a 92 standard Q

the fronts were really bad rubbing the suspension but back wasnt as bad but i was highly advised not to run the rears just because if i do carry a load in the truck or hit the slightest bump iwas told i could get rubbing and destroy the car. i really want to get wider tire and somthing with a lil more sidewall cause the 245/35/19 im running right now are great but need more cushion for these damn potholes. btw im running an ofset of 20, they are flush with the fenders now. What kind of mods can we do to run wider tires? anyone know

yeah i hear you thats the same reason for me too! i ended up lowering my car 2 inches but still need bigger tires like i said, whats the biggest you think we can get away with?

OTG is right, the bigger tires make the car a little sluggish. I have a HARD time getting the rears to even break loose.

But if FAT is what you want, I would keep it around 245 MM to 285 MM, with a 8.5" to 10.0" rear rim.

I run 275/35/18 on a 9" rim, and they look good. I will be going to a 40 series tire, to fill the fenders a bit more.
