On the stock 6.5" se rims you can go a 225/50/R16.... I would advise against it as my 2nd set was a 225, my third was a 205, and this set the 4th is a 225... The 225's I have had all wore out center first, this set of 712 kumho's with 9 auto-x's on them, and I think 1.5-2 degrees neg camber did the same. The sidewalls have about 3 times the life of the centers as they sit right now on the rears....

I accredit this to fitting a much wider tire then I should have on a stock 6.5, thus buldging out the center slightly. I am getting a pair of avs es100's in a 205/55 and will put those on the fronts, moving the 712's to the rear to finish them out. Money is tight so Ill do this, then get another pair of es100's to fit in the rear at a later date.

Also in my automatic equipped s14, I knoticed a pretty big hit in the 1/4 with the 225's possibly due to the weight... Keep in mind this is an auto and I ran 15.7 on 205's then ran consistent 16.0 - 16.1 shortly after on the 225's having to add more parts to get it back to a 15.7... I say big hit because my best mod netted me .3 in the quarter, bolt on. Damn auto's :)

Edit: my last sets wearing out where accredited both to to high a pressure I run 32-33 on the street and 36-37 in the auto-x. That was too high... Then I ran 28-29 daily and that was too low... Go figure... It was because of the width of the tire in relation to the width of the rim, which they didnt account for...

Without getting into a wider rim (at least a 7") there is no mechanical benefit going wider. The rim is going to be too narrow to support the sidewalls=lousy handling.
