Ok guys, I know this sounds stupid, but I'm really curious, especially since I don't have a good timing light at the moment. Went to track the other night and car was acting like the injectors were screwing up. Couldn't figure it out and decided to check the timing, so according to the boards and book, it said to time at idle. Ok, wiggled the distributor to see which direction the engine liked, and kept tweaking it. Ends up, I have the
distributor turned as far to the left(towards front of car) as the screws allow and the engine loves it. Does anyone know what kind of timing this would be at the max limit of the distributor? Really curious as to the exact timing that is on the car because it kept acting like it wanted me to turn the dizzy farther to the left but couldn't due to the hold down screws.

My method: start car, get it to normal temp, increase throttle and lock down to desired rpm, loosen the hold down bolts on dizzy, slowly tweak left/right to see desirable area and then follow the sound of the car. Take it to the point where it peaks, you can tell the sound it makes cause any further tweaking drops the engine. Can also verify by watching a tach, as long as its hooked up and closely sensitive. Only catch is u gotta have a decent running engine, no bad coughing and just gotta be patient with the dizzy while you move it as it needs to be moved VERY SLOWLY if you want to do it right.
