Does anyone know the maximum speaker depth for the door mounted speakers in the 4th gen?

In my sedan I have CDT components (CL-61) that are a little over 2" deep and I had to get a .5" spacer for them to fit without hitting the window if that helps you.

According to the site I have about 4" of depth to work with.

Was that with or without the stock mounting bucket?

Bump. Has anyone had any experience installing speakers around 3 1/2in deep?

My speakers are about 2.64" deep, so I don't know that 3.5 will fit. I have no clearance issues, but I also *always* mount to an MDF ring (keeps noise down since you're not mounting onto the metal body). As you can see from the first picture, my ring is wider than the current sheet metal opening (so I used a dremel to clear some of that away since the spider on my aftermarket speakers has a larger diameter than stock). I'm not sure if I would clip the window with a 3.5" deep (that seems pretty deep) speaker though.

Yeah, 3.5" really is deep for the door. I'm trying to find some other midbasses that are a bit more shallow without going too high in price, but it's hard when all the speakers I like have tons of xmax Here's a good question: do you still have the stock speaker mounting bracket? The black plastic bowl looking thing: (Photo belongs to Blindbug)

If you do or remember its approximate size, I'd like to know about how thick it is, that way I can get an idea as to how thick of an MDF spacer I can put on the door before the speaker hits the door panel. I'm thinking if I can get a 1" MDF ring to fit in there with the speaker, I'll be able to fit the mids in.

Here's the midbasses that I'm looking at: http://www.madisound.com/catal...=8234

They come out to just about 3.31" deep.

I still have the stock plastic mounting hardware, though it is unfortunately in storage that is a bit too far away for me to check easily. I am almost positive my rings are 3/4" MDF. I doubt you'll be able to go much thicker as the speaker (more accurately the surround) will start to contact the grille on the door trim at high volume. My speakers come quite close to doing this.

I didn't use the factory bracket, speaker was too big...only used the new spacer.
