You will spend thousands of dollars in order to achieve this... simple way of increasing hp is forced induction...

turbocharger. for the simple fact of less rotational mass off the motor. a supercharger will be belt driven which will create more rotational mass. turbos simply run off of your exhaust to spin the turbine to create boost. it's literally the perfect example of recycling. while a supercharger would be really cool in a novel sense, your gains would be much more significant with a turbo. and while superchargers give instantaneous power, turbos have come along way in structure and design. the lag time for the spool up to begin has become very minimal, granted this is dependent on the size of your turbo but nonetheless. i would go with the turbo. you'll be happy if you do. as to the original point of your question, who knows. i haven't really done research on the matter. it really depends on the upgrades ( and what type ) and how well of a tune is applied. but the best way to go is turbo. if you want to see real gains, boosting is the only real option. just make sure you beef up the motor to handle it. a turbo can be really fun, but it could also be the end of your car if not done properly.

as for upgrades for an all motor application: CAI ( cold air intake), headers, catback exhaust, aggressive street cams, performance valves, springs, and rocker arms, high flow intake manifold, bigger throttle body, lightweight wheels, underdrive or lightweight pulleys, lightweight flywheel, and top it off with a really good tune and dyno. i think you could see some impressive gains. but then you must consider hp/cost ratio. is it really worth doing all of this or would it be cheaper in the long run to go boost? a lot to think about.
