From what I have read, I think you can bore it out so it will be a maximum of 1900cc's. so 85mm.

I would not punch it that far. I will have to go 85mm on mine and there is very little meat left between cylinders.

20 to 40 thou is rule of thumb. Unless it's a drag motor that you are prepared to 'lunch' during a run.

For a street car, many people are running 40 thou, but if you get a block with bores slightly offcentre (not uncommon), you risk busting something under 'man sized' boost.

Hope my advice saves you one rebuild.

Nismo use to make 85mm pistons for the CA, as far as I know they are the only ones to sell a piston that large for the CA.

http://www.paeco.com The price for a set of forged pistons in standard bore, stock compression ratio is $420. Add $40 for any overbore size and add $40 for any non-standard compression ratio. We can furnish virtually anything for this engine that we furnish for any of the other Nissan engines, provided that you can furnish us with stock part samples to go by. The parts are necessary since this is a non-imported engine. The pricing for everything would be the same as for listed items, since we do most of it on a custom basis anyhow. Please let us know if we can help you. - Carl at PAECO

How long did it take you to get that reply? Sometimes it takes them months. I dont really trust them.

the CA20 block should be useable with some modification, it is slightly taller (2-3mm i think i worked out) and uses an 84.5mm bore as standard. There are 85.5mm pistons available for it (not suitable for turbo use, but you could have them made by special order)

Infact if you managed to get hold of a Tomei stroker crank you might be able to get upto around 2050cc like this. wish I had the money

a "tomei" crank is just a CA20 crank with a different snout for the CA18 belt gear.

the standard CA20 crank isn't forged (the CA18DE/T crank is), so is no good for any real power

Keep the revs low and use the stroke to make the power and it would be fine. The CA20's achilles heel are those supemodel-sized con rods.

no guys if anything i would either machine the crank .250 or just leaving it the stock bore but raise compression couple points. im not looking to run 25 pounds of boost, 15 or so with a 9.5 to 10 to 1 should be ok, maybe a lil alcohol or water on the intake side to keep things safe.
