I was just wondering what a stock auto tt can handle interms of maximum boost?

A twin 3 inch exhaust is on its way to me and ive been told it will raise the stock psi by itself, but im thinking maybe an electronic boost controller would benefit me interms of controlling this gain?

you can't make the stock wastegate open any soner than it does in it's own, the exhaust alone should only help it to spool faster, and running a few extra psi isn't going to hurth anything, but if you want to turn up the boost a controller of some sort is needed, and if you want to run more than 10 psi you need to have a remapped ECU to go with it

I have a Z1 Motorsports ECU and JDM AT Turbos, but my car is a 5-speed. Forsome reason, the JDM turbos are capable of putting out much higher boost levels than the USDM versions. I run 22-25psi on STOCK JDM turbos all day long with no problems at all.

I forgot to mention, I'm also using an HKS EVC-IV Digital Boost Contoller.

I believe stock is 7psi, and the stock turbo's are not efficient abotu 18 psi, anything beyond taht is just hot air, and you're able to run the high boost due to it being a turbo block with a remapped ecu

Well 7psi would make sense as the stock boost gauge hits '7' (simplest logic..) but ive heard of 9 too.

so 14-15psi would be safe on stock everything except a 3 inch exhaust? thats good enough for me then! ill run it at 12 for a while just to see how things go...gotta keep up with the mates race-tuned Integra type R

its not possible to use 1 manual boost tap to raise psi levels on the zed engine aye? have to use 2 or an electronic controller?

me = noob at turbos

yes you can use manual boost controller, bleeds, boost jets, or electronic boost controller you just gotta have 2 of whatever, with electronic you can wire up 2 valves

The stock turbos are good until 18 psi. With a remapped ecu (they call them stage 3) at 15 psi, and stock injectors you can get 400hp. With 550cc injectors and better tuning at 18psi you can get over 400hp. If you go with higher boost go with an electronic boost controller they are much better.

Would you have to get a remapped ecu to go to 15psi? and by 400hp you dont mean at the wheels huh.

as im in New Zealand, new zx after market ecu's and spacific tuning and parts arent as readily available here as they are to you guys which suuucks.

i guess a dyno tune would be easy enough though, upping the boost and tuning the engine to run on said boost of say, 14psi. shweet.

15psi shoud be safe with the stock ecu, and it's not gonna get yu to 400hp by itselg, intake exhaust ecu and 18-20 psi gets you nearly 400shp

Ok cool, thanks for that, ill just play with the boost for now then

as for intake, is there any way of simply removing the airbox and panel filter and sticking a pod filter on? as i came from a honda background..i know it wont be that easy as the air flow meter 'n all, but is it neccessay to get the whole kit for it? as here itll cost um, heaps

i wouldn't run 18 psi on a z32tt with stock internals. and 9 psi is stock on a manual, it might be 7 on an automatic though.

Currently, I am running 14 psi on stock turbos. I have the the Z1 Motorsports ECU and boost jets. I am also running the supporting modifications also though. Intake, Hard pipes, and turbo back exhaust. 15 pounds should be just fine, but I would recommend a tune or new ECU to go with it.
