So I pulled out the old calculator, pencil, and a tape measure today...Only managed to confuse myself more...

So anyhow, anyone who can answer me a solution to this problem...

Stock Wheel- 15x6 +38= 152.4mm Width 38 offset

Looks like---> 152.4mm ---------------------------- | 38.2mm | 114.2mm |

Head on view of a tire if only viewing the top 2 inches of a tire. Now I measured fender gap and it looks like I would only need roughly 1.5 inches of extra width to flush out the wheel. So basically if I was looking for a 17x9 +~~ I would be looking at something like this-->

228.4mm ----------------------------- | 76.2mm | 152.2mm |

So if math serves me correctly if I was looking for a 17x9 wheel to flush out naturally without fender modifications I would only be looking for something with the same +38 offset?

Of course it won't fit on stock struts and springs but I figure I'd be gaining an extra 2 inches of rough clearence with coilovers so the inside should clear 152.2<164.2.

My question is basically am I doing my math wrong? Near everyone I've talked to says that you need +15 to +25 offset for a S13 chassis.

When you drop a few inches with coils does your stance change that drastically where you need another inch of width to flush out wheels and/or clear internal components?

your math may not be wrong (i didnt check it) but your idea of flush is probably wrong

and no, you will not gain NEARLY that much clearance with coilovers, in fact, you lose room

depending on the tire size you run and the coilovers you get figure roughly 9 +20 to +22 to clear on the inside, and this has an effect of making the wheels sit pretty nice outside, hence why everybody says that this is the range to aim for
