Master warning light on ?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Master warning light on
Passenger air bag light on

Typical reasons either would be on ? (I've read the doors being open can kick the Master light on)
Passenger airbag light on cause no one's in the seat ?

The master is indeed on because the doors are open. If it doesn't go out when they're closed, the message center should tell you why it's still lit. Other things like low fuel can also turn it on.

The airbag icon has nothing to do with the passenger airbag or seatbelts, the former has its own yellow indicator (PABI) and the latter has a seatbelt symbol. The bag icon being lit means something is wrong in your SRS system.

Could be, but the airbag lamp in the cluster is a global warning for anything wrong in the SRS system. The most common cause is different for different models. On R51 Pathfinders and gen1 Rogues it's usually a bad spiral cable causing an open circuit to the driver's bag, on gen5 Altimas it's usually a fatigued wire under the seat causing an open to the side airbag in the seatback. Reading the codes from the Bag Brain is the best way to know what's going on, but a quick test for whether the OCS system in the passenger seat is causing the issue is whether the yellow Passenger Airbag Indicator (PABI) is behaving normally. If the light turns on for a heavy bag of groceries or a five year old child but goes off for an adult passenger, the OCS is working fine and probably isn't causing the SRS lamp.
