Car: 89 240SXBrakes: 90-92 (IIRC) Z32TT 30mm Calipers

Which Z32 Master Cylinder do I need? Year? TT/NA?

This is the last piece I need for my conversion.

TIA.

As far as I can tell, all Z32TT front calipers are the same from production dates 7/'89 - 7/'92. This would mean that both TT M/C's available through that year range will work....because the two different M/C use the same caliper for the years in question. Two of the M/C's interchange between TT and N/A...

The years for the TT M/C are split this way:

from 7/'89-1/'91 P/N N3000-52473

and from 1/'91-all is P/N N3000-52482

The years for the N/A M/C are:

From 2/'89-6/'90 is P/N N3000-52472

From 7/'90-1/'91 is P/N N3000-52473

From 2/'91-all is P/N N3000-52482

These Part Numbers are for the Tokico brand M/C.

Get the 1-1/16" MC

What I'm talking about is what SingleCamSam is talking about. Supposedly, there are 3 different size master cylinders, and supposedly, you need the 1/16" version.

What I want to know is what year that master cylinder came with. It really has nothing to do with the calipers, it has more to do with the brake lines than anything.

does this help you any

"The 300 zx 1 1/16" MC is spec'd on something like 7 models, including the early na cars. The key is that it is made by NABCO, not Tokico. About $215 new from Nissan. The fittings bolt right up. Sorry you had to find out the hard way. Also, the NABCO is stamped 1 1/16 right on the MC very plainly."

A way to be sure would be to run to the local parts house, ask for a '92 TT M/C open the box and see if it's cast with 1-1/16". This shouldn't be a problem for a parts house to open the box just to make sure that you're getting what you're looking for.

Tinted, I read that link too....

"I have discovered that Nissan used a 15/16", 1" as well as 1 1/16" master cylinder in 300ZX. There doesn't seem to be a method to the madness, so make sure you know which one you are buying. I used the 1 1/16" MC for my swap"

hmm this is getting more confusing as I go.

from d240t2 (unstable hybrid guy)

"As far as MCs go...this is a bit tricky. There are 5 different MCs on Z32s. There are 2 different size Tokico MCs (1" and 17/16"), and 3 different Nabco models (15/16", 1", and 17/16"). With minor modifications, they'll bolt up to S13s and S14s without ABS. ABS S13s, these bolt right on. Non-ABS S13s, if you just want to go to the 15/16" MC (stock is 7/8"), then you can get an 86 S12 200SX MC from autozone, rebuilt, that will bolt right on."

some more gibble garble

"Z32 Master Cylinder bore size:84-1/89NA & Turbo = 15/16"2/89-8/91NA & 6/89-1/91 Turbo = 1 1/16"7/90-1/91 = 1 1/16"9/91-96NA & 2/91-96 Turbo = 1"

I got that from some Z website. I'm not sure about the 84-89 MC sizes. All other are correct, as I have purchase ALL OF THEM. The 17/16 is same as 1 1/16 and has all 3 holes for mounting (insert included). The 1" one has a weird 5 sided plug which can be remove and use (no insert though, you have to provide your own). IMO, the 1" works best, it all depends how you like your brake pedal feel.

One last thing, 15/16, 17/16 or 1 1/16 is all stamped on to the side of the MC. The 1" isn't, if this helps any."

I did some more reading on Fresh Alloy, and it seems that the 17/16 is pretty stiff. One person suggested the 1" because its a little softer.

The first link you posted. In it details the process of cutting the old M/C to pull the fittings from the casting.

Exar, Smith, Tinted....

Here are some pics of the M/C I bought today. It's for a Z32, pre-2/91. He said it has a 1 1/16" plunger, but it's not in the casting.

Anyway, tell me if this looks good, and also, do I still need to destroy my old master cylinder?

Oh, and all three of the holes that have that green thing covering them right now look the same as in that picture.

Ok so if I have a 89 Coupe w/o ABS, then the 17/16 (1" 1/16), MC will bolt right up then, and that's the one I want right? Thanks
