Well my brake light has been coming on and off this past week. I noticed the brake fluid level was also low. I thought that my brake lines might be shot but upon inspection i found the master cylinder to be leaking everywhere! Not good! Im still in debt from getting my whole front driver side suspension fixed. I looked on line for prices and found that a new one is around 200. but i also saw that a repair kit runs $60. Does anyone know if the repair kit is simple enough that a regular mechanic can do it? Also does anyone have a used master cylinder for cheap?

The cheap fix is to keep filling the brake fluid. Mine leaked for 5 years before I replaced it, but only a minor leak in cold weather (had to top it off once a month or so). After replacing it the brakes felt the same as before. You can also tighten the two nuts in the back, that might help.

Thats kinda scary. I dont mess around with brakes. The thought of not be able to stop a 4000lb pound Q barreling along gives me the chills.

An A1 Cardone reman at Autozone is less than $85... Is it as good as OEM? Not sure - but it's better than leaky OEM. Fenco is $67, but Cardone has a pretty good reputation... Q45Tech (where has he gone anyway?) seems to trust Cardone. They rebuilt the ABS actuator on Q1 five years ago and it's been fine - so I've had a good experience.

The M/S on Q1 was leaking when I bought her... let it go for a while knowing that it was covered under the 100K warranty. Went out of town for a few days and while I was gone it dumped the whole resivoir in the driveway. Dealer sent a flat bed at no charge - but it still goes to show that you never know when an iffy brake part will fail completely.
