So some of you may know, my 240 was in a hit and run. I finally got some pictures of it and I've decided to go wide body. At least on the back. I have a few questions I would like to ask. But before I ask, here is the damage done

If a mod can edit my post, to make the pictures smaller, I apologize in advance for the picture size. I want to eventually put on wide body fenders on the back. I found the ones I like they are origin 30mm found here http://www.intensepower.com/orlabrefe30s.html.

What is my best bet to put them on. I know I need to cut away some of the fender. If someone could photoshop approximately how high I need to cut on the wheel well to have good clearance. As for bending parts back out I'm hoping that once I cut away parts ill be able to use something to bend the trunk piece back up.

So if someone could please photoshop a line of how high I need to cut, and if anyone has any ideas for fixing the trunk area and the huge dent on the side, I'm thinking just getting a dent puller from wal mart or some place. Any help you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any possible idea? I was thinking once I cut it to put the wide body on, I could use vice grips and pry the ***** back in place. I'm not sure if that would work. Would my best bet just be to find a coupe shell someone is parting off and cut out the piece I need and weld the new piece into place?

Thats terrible man. I really hate to say it also but find another shell and swap what you have over, as a project on the side see if you can INDEED replace that rear quarter. If not, you can say you tried

Awesome (well kinda) Thanks for the replies guys. I hate people sometimes... especially people who hit and run makes me want to choke someone. So I guess I'm in the market for a new shell if anyone has a coupe shell they want to sell to me, and they are within say... an hours drive of Maple Grove. I may be interested in buying it.

I have an idea I think I want to try. I'm not sure if it will work but here goes.

Say I find a coupe someone is selling for parts... would it work if I cut out the complete back end where that red line is on the parts and on mine and weld it in place? Any ideas on if that would work? It would be a great right up for anyone if they have something like this happen. My girlfriend wants to bang on it really hard I told her she can if she wants. It can't get any worse. But do you think that would work? If I cut out the replacement part and welded it in place. I might try that.

....that thing is f'd up. sorry to see that man, but lots of work to fix that and as said above, still won't ever be the way it was. people who hit and run pollute the gene pool and therefore should be put out of their misery

Priceless where is D-town? How much was the guy asking for it?

It doesn't bother me much, it's a horrible eye sore and I won;t ever be able to sell my car with it looking like that. But it doesn't effect drivability. I was scared ****less that my frame was damaged, but I took it in, and nothing, the frame is great. The sole reason why I want to try and fix this, is because it has been in minnesota all its life and has no rust. I just started getting a little surface rust and I fixed that up all ready sanded it down to bare metal primered and painted it. Ive babied this car and I feel like I let her down in a way, to let her go without being fixed.

it has 140k miles on it, everything is changed on time and kept lubricated. I want to paint her white with a black roof. Ive seen hatches a lot with the black roof, never seen a coupe. I;m going to try it eventually. I'm hoping sometime within the next couple days, im going to try and bend the trunk part up as best as I can. See if it will even work. Otherwise I am going to look into the welding aspect of it I don't think it would be terribly hard...

If you're not really down with that coupe shell offer just go to any junk yard with a saw and cut out the whole trunk. Cutting the whole trunk or half a trunk, it's all the same work.

I don't see any frame bending. If there are any it'll cost you about $300 to make it straight.

All in all, it's not that hard to fix.

I have seen body shops fix worse. as long as your frame is not bent. It will cost a lot though. Doing it yourself would be real hard, but I guess you could try. I know how you feel. I had a 91 civic si with a b16 that I had been driving for like 7 years (5 with B16) and I got rear ended. It was so sad. life goes on and I get my dream of owning a 510. Good luck!!

I wouldn't call it 'DONE' especially seeing how the rear glass is not damaged at all or how the trunk lid is un-touched.Fixing in with a wide body will be a lot easier than trying to swap into another shell.

And good luck getting a 'Clean' shell. You're going to be doing a lot more things than swapping in an engine. Believe me, I've done it twice.Just weld in some sheet metal from Lowes or Home Depot for the trunk and for the sides pull the dents out and put on a 24mm wide body. Get a paint job while you're at it. I can see your old paint coming off.

You'll need some dent pullers for like $50, 4.5" grinder with cut-off wheel for like $50, reciprocating saw for $50, some 12 gauge sheet metal for like $7 a piece, a small welder, bondo and primer.

Nothing you can't do yourself, maybe except for the welding. You don't need a body shop to weld in the over fenders. A basic metal welding shop can do it a lot cheaper.

BTW, I saw a guy cut 2 integras in half and weld the best front end to the best back end. he did it on the frame rack so it came out straight.

Damn bro that sucks. I got hit around the same area in my rear quarter panel and had to get a new one. It was going to be too expensive. Good luck though.

Soravia you may just have been my saving grace. The trunk is untouched it wasn't damaged at all (which just amazes me with the extent of the damage) I found the origin wide body fenders I'm going to purchase whenever I can get enough money. Soravia how do you supposed I go about preparing the back end for the wide body? Should I try and rivet it on? What area should I cut off? Is anyone good at photoshop that can show me what I need to do, or put arrows to what I need to fix to attach a wide body?

And be prepared within the next month or so to see a build thread coming. I work a block away so I can walk to work while I'm cutting and putting in new body. For all the fans of the 240, I will not let this one die. I will fix her up

Rivets are too ghetto and offers little to no support. Next time you get hit they'll blow over and cause a lot more damage. Origin overfenders are fiber-glass so they have offer no protection. You want to cut out the current fender, weld in flat sheet metal and put the Origin over fender on top of that.

Top of your right trunk will need repair. I recommend visiting a junk yard for it. You'll need the rear lamp, gas cap and bumper cover anyway. You don't need a photoshop to know the fixing point. Origin over fender will cover all your damage except top of the trunk line on the right and the rear roof line which can be pulled out and put a bondo on top. You don't even have damage under the rear quarter glass.

Awesome thank you for the input. Looks like I have a summer project whenever I can get the funds. I will be posting a build thread on the topic, when I get to that situation. Thanks everyone for the advice, and thank you Soravia for giving me the light on this project.

Once the project is completed it will be going in for paint. I'm very tempted to try going white with a black roof like some of the hatches have, Kind of like this http://i244.photobucket.com/al...1.jpg (picture in thanks to priceless) but with the pillars as well like this (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg34 ... jpgpicture again thanks to priceless. Both pictures used paint, so its good enough to where you get the picture) My fiance is photoshopping my car white with the black roof. So I can see exactly how my car will look. Whenever I get the picture I'll put it up for you to see.

As far as I know I have not see a coupe with the black roof like I have seen, so many hatches. I think it looks pretty cool and I like it, and to each their own, if you don't like it thats cool. Just give me your thoughts on if you would like to see it white with the black roof.

hey sora, you seem like a knowledgeable guy, why don't you go ahead and post pics from when you did this and how you coped with straightening the frame or verifying it was straight, cutting out the old sheetmetal and replacing it, welding it in and dealing with that fubar'd c-pillar? i would love to see before and after pics of your car that this happened to.

when my car got hit in the rear quarter, i got to hang out at the body shop and watch the whole process as they cut the quarter off of a donor car and welded it on to mine. it took them a long time and cost the other driver's insurance a crapload of money (i think $3,800 which was dangerously close to totalling the car) and that was just the bodywork. my damage wasn't anywhere near as bad as his, and yet i was told by several different shops that it was a lost cause. i didnt want to give up the car, though and after i got it back it never was the same as before.

i sure know that if that was my car, id weigh the fact that a clean shell can be found for next to nothing compared to the massive amount of time, effort and cash it would take to save it. not to mention the profit to be had by parting what i didn't need.
