WOW... that's all I'd love to say and be able to leave it at that, but that wouldn't really get me anywhere.

Had the luck of pulling into my apt complex, and driving up the parking access ramp like I do several times a day, only this time i hear a BAM! Car vaults up sideways like I hit a boulder... power cuts off almost instantly, and momentum of car carries it up to the top of the ramp... I try to start the car again and it makes a sound like it wants to turn over but just can't, and I get the strong smell of gas in my nostrils.

Get out the car to see what the hell I hit, and I'm greeted with this mess of a driveway, that wasn't like this the day before.

I end up calling the after hours emergency number @ my building and told them what had happened and that I thought my car was leaking gas... it came to a rest above a sewer so my concern went beyond just my car.

The after hrs guy calls back, asks the location of my car (i've since moved it to my nearby underground parking with the help of my brother, but not b4 taking a ton of photos) and I tell him where it is, and that it's leaking gas as I can clearly smell it.

He shows up about 10 mins later to my spot with 3 firemen in tow, one carrying a huge bag of gravel... ask me what happened, and I tell him exactly what happened, show him this line that is clearly damaged on the passenger side and tell hiim I think the car's leaking gas...

He proceeds to go on that it could be any car in the parking lot garage and starts to treat me like I made the whole story up. Says he used to be a mechanic, and that my problem is mechanical - mind you, I bought the car 3 months ago and it's been in good condition until this mishap. I tell him it must be one big f***ing coincidence that my car died RIGHT after hitting said pieces of pavement - he says out loud that it's probably an insurance claim scam. I flip out on him, giving him a piece of my mind. They leave.

Screwed. Any suggestions as to what it may be? Seems like the car isn't getting any gas, I still have gas in the tank but it seems to leak when the car is trying to turn over (i wisely didn't repeat this for obvious reasons), fireman d*ckhead says it's not the gas line and he may be right, but i'll leave the judgement to you more seasoned vets.

BTW... i told him that if he was a mechanic, he probably had been a pretty crappy one seeing how good mechanics take home more than a fireman.

thanks in advance guys.

thats definantly a fuel line that you ripped off, im not sure if its supply, return or vapor related but im sure its not the only line thats damaged

the dealer can easily set you up w/ paperwork that CLEARLY states that the damage is the exact reason the car doesnt run, which will take care of any attempts at a fraud claim

submit the estimate to the owner of the ramp, done

edit: i do beleive i see melted snow under the car that looks like its exactly where this damage is .... looks like a narrow tire print that leads up under the car and just STOPS ... hmmm ... quite clever addition to your little insurance scam

Thats f ed up. One time I hit a pot hole and got a flat tire from it. I tried suing the city and getting money back for buying a new tire. I lost since they had a construction site almost 2 miles away from the pothole and had warning signs there...... they claimed they had signs and warnings and i should have known better

Those are your fuel lines. By being bent like that they probably ruptured further into the engine bay, breaking off somewhere, which is why your car may crank and crank but not start. Either way, Report the negligence by the firemen and whoever to your local government officials, and talk to your nearest dealer, and tell your insurance immediately. Its disgusting to think that people like that fireman are in existence. Then get those lines fixed and have the car checked for chassis damage, and suspension damage.

Thanks a lot for the replies, guys. I'm taking all of this pretty well... the only thing that really pisses me off was the way I was treated by the fireman that is a supposed "mechanic". I got the vibe he just didn't want to deal with this call and was looking for an easy out. Not to mention he looked like he was 60 yrs old - the only cars he's probably worked on is old a$$ domestics, def. not any newer imports.

He was probably just cheesed a young buck is drivin' a nicer car and pulling in more cake than him. I'm waiting on a friend with mechanic savvy to take a look for me, then I'm towing her off to the dealership.... will keep u posted.

Once again, many thanks guys!

If this happened on the apt. complex property, I would call the property managment company that runs the apts. Explain to them what happened and how you were treated by the after hours guy. And see what they will do to make it right. If they are any good they should take care of it. After all it was damage caused by thier lack of maintainance at their property.

And deff. get your insurance involved. If the property management company trys to get out of it, have your insurance persue them for rembursement of the damages.
