ME 1 by far had the best story out of any game I have played. I was completely blown away by the beats(plot timing) and twists. I didn't get fully into it until about 40% completion because very little was explained. I also thought that the combat system was a little rough.

ME 2 is a totally different story. Having the background of playing ME 1 really helped too. The game flows much better, they got rid of that POS rover and added the tedious but rewarding planet scanning. I'm officially addicted to this game and can't wait to play though it again. The only thing that bothers me with this one is that on the 2nd hardest difficulty it's way too easy. It's a shame that Bioshock 2 is being reals ed so close to this one and all of my MW2 friends are getting pissed.

I'm enjoying the "personal" missions for the crewmembers. It helps flesh out their characters...far more than just chatting on the Normandy could.

And Garrus is a badass. He was always a badass, but he's still a badass. Best character in ME without question.

I almost always had him in my team in ME. He and Tali were easily my favourites from the original.

I'm looking forward to finding out what he's been up to. I only started the game a couple of days ago and haven't really put that much time into it, but it's already got me hooked.

Garrus always made me think of Garrick from Star Trek: DS9.

I'm an Engineer, so Liara was my 2nd choice in ME1.

On the subject of Liara, the 2nd part of the Redemption comic comes out today. The comic explains what happens to her after Shepard dies and why she is unable to rejoin the crew for the 2nd game.

I gotta get that comic and Garrus is the man! He was one of my favorites from the first game as well. I just started some of the characters backstory missions...very nice addition to the game. I love the new ship, Shepard's new uniforms and armor and all the other little details in the game...it's just freakin' awesome and the graphics rock! Has anyone visited the Normandy SR1's crashsite...very eerie. I also used that Bloodragon and Chiton armor for the first time...very impressive and looks cool too. The combat flows much better also...it's a great shooter, I find myself wanting to redo a lot of the missions not just for the cutscenes but for the shooting aspects!

I'm on the final mission. Lots of cinematics toward the end. And from what I gather, there's a lot of potential for variation in them depending on how you've done things. I did all the crew loyalty missions, everyone's in top-shape. But I'm looking forward to playing through again to get all the upgrades I couldn't afford on this go.

So when you play through a 2nd time do you get to keep your upgrades? And what the deal with all of the comics, can someone fill me in? the only thing I know are the games, I'm not familiar with anything else. I'm definitely interested as the 1st was had the most mind blowing story.

If you dissect these games they've done something really amazing. I've never seen another game that had such a massive and diverse universe with wars, genocides and actual history. This $hit is crazy!

After you beat the game, you get to keep playing. Finish any quests, explore the rest of the galaxy, etc. But you can also, at any time, import your save (just like you would with your ME1 save) and use it to start a new game with all your stats intact.

There is only one comic, the rest are novels. The Comic follows Liara after Shepard's death as she tries to track down his body before the Shadow Broker does. There will be 4 parts but only 2 are out so far.

And for those (like me) who were underwhelmed by the end boss fight in ME1...don't worry. There's an epic boss fight at the end of this one.

Awesome thanks! Where do you get the comics? Are they digital copies or actual comics? What's the deal with the novels? How many are there? How long are they? Are the games based off of them or were they written after ME1? To be honest I hardly remember the Saren battle it was so long ago. I barely remember the council room(I think) that it took place in. I really wish I went back and played it through a few months ago as a refresher. I've got a feeling that if I do it after finishing ME 2 (I just entered the Omega 4 Relay last night and had to quit) and go back to ME it will fail in comparison.

Ohh yeah is there anyway to gain Thane's loyalty if you screw it up the first time?

Both. They're actual printed comics, but digital download versions of the collector edition of ME2 get a PDF version of Redemption #1. They're also available on the iphone digitally.

There's a new comic shop across the street from my apartment, so I just stopped by and picked up a copy. You might be able to find it at a normal book store. Last year I found the Star Trek Countdown comic at Barnes and Noble...but that was a complete collection of the whole series in one binding, not an individual issue.

I'm not sure about Thane. I didn't screw that one up. I did manage to get Jack's loyalty back, but that was a story-centric thing, so I don't know if it's possible for everyone. You could always just use the "Mission restart" save for his mission and try again...assuming you haven't already moved on.

Well I just finished the second novel Ascension Sunday, it's about 300 pages and the story takes place a couple of months after the attack on the Citadel. If you're playing ME2, when you hear the Quarians talk about how Cerberus invaded the migrant fleet, the events of that are what's in this novel.

Sweet! BTW I just finished ME 2 last night and starting all over so I can get that level 30 achievement(360). It would be a lot cooler if you could change your class 2nd time around.

I was 25 when I finished. I did ALL the story missions and I think all the non-hidden side missions, but I only did a couple of hidden missions. I didn't do much exploring at all.

I finished @ 26 and there were 3 secondary missions I did not complete. For some reason my Paragon & Renegade weren't high enough to convince the person on Illium to let the colonist go. After I delivered the packages to Ish on Omega I chose the Paragon option and he took off. Then my objective turned to finding him in the market but he was no where to be found. And lastly I could not find the people that wanted to escape the citadel with the fake ID. I know where they were supposed to be located but for some reason they never showed up. Bummer eh?

SPOILER DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T BEATEN THE GAME!

So how do you let Shephard die? I'm guessing it's by saving the planet for cerberus?

Spoilers hidden below:

It seems like it is multiple decisions throughout the game that determine if Shepard dies. I've also heard that Samara's daughter will kill you at the end if you choose to recruit her by killing Samara. But it looks like there's the potential for EVERYONE to die. I saw a clip in which both of Shepard's squadmates for the boss fight die, and then Joker says the rest of the team never made it back to the Normady either. Then Shepard dies as well. How many of those things are directly connected is unclear, but the way the final movie is cut, it looks like they're all independent. Seems like you can lose one, both, or neither squadmates.

I only lost Legion, who I sent ahead through the pipes to hack the doors at the beginning of the mission.
