I would look at the Mass Air Flow Sensor <connector> first.(MAF= "mass air meter")
Its a common cause of drivability issues/powerloss as well.
Also its kinda easy to damage your MAF by cleaning it, so careful with that.
idle the car, find the MAF connector (its right next to the MAF, I dont know what it looks like on a 240, but on a Q its next to the square box thats squatting on top of the air filter housing), wiggle the connector gently and see if your engines sounds different as u do.
If it does, then its the connector (cheap and easy replacement at least on my car).
