I have a 96 q45 and need to replace the Mass Air Flow sensor . The part number on my MAS is 22680-61U01 , but when i search for it , the result for the same car shows the part number as 22680 61U00 .
So can i replace mine with this one?
how do u read the part coding anyway?

Other than the electrical connection socket there is little difference in the 90-96 MAF.............x grams of air flow creates y volts [0.8> 4.4 volts].

They appeared to have tried to tweek the no flow/cranking flow vs voltage to be more stable and repeatable but not sure they accomlished much.

Always try a good known used MAF [even if you have to jury rigg the 3 wires temporarily before spending $500 on a new one............careful shorts which send 12volts to ecu expecting < 5.0 volts can fry ecu so make sure you know what you are doing!!!!!

I Had a discussion with the service guy at the infiniti dealership, what he said was ,to sum things up, both of these cannot be used interchangeably , even if the connector is changed.Apparently the programming for both of these is different.

TO make matters worst..i cannot find an old MAF of my car..the 22680-61U01 kind ..and there are A LOT of 22680-61U00 out there on ebay and else where. :wtf2:

The question is exactly how much did they change the curve. The lower peak flow of the 96 is probably only a few %. 5% at most and nothing at idle or cruise.

Create a flow vs voltage graph and see what the changes might entail.

The important thing is that the MAF matches displacement.

:ohno: i am def not this technical as you are. All i know so far is 96 model had two kinds...one is with 3 pins the other with 4 pins...and to my luck i have the rear 4 pin one  .

Btw...(and here you would know how technical i am :naughty: ) what will happen if i just unplug the darn thing... would it only increase the fuel consumption or would the car wont work at all and would be bad for the car?

I don't understand what the whole problem is just find the correct MAF sensor whether new, used, OEM or after market and stick with it.

1990-early 1995 had OBD1 sensors (MAF sensors) late 1995-1996 G50's had OBD2 type MAF sensors.

If you unplug it (based off of dealing with OBD1 Q45's) your engine will not rev past 2000 RPM's.

It might crank but rpm would be limited to 2000 [fail safe].

Study FSM if 4th pin is just an integrated "intake air temp sensor" you could modify [jury rig something] on a pre 96 MAF.

Sure the 4th pin is not just a "shield" connector.

We haven't seen a 1996 in 2 years and our FSM is lost.

This is odd when looking to replace my MAF sensor I see the 4 pin & 3 pin up for my '96. Yet I check mine the female side(brown & orange) has 4 slots yet on the sensor itself has only 3 prongs/connectors ?! Did one break off (it's not inside the receptacle I checked) ?

The plot thickens lol.
