Mass air flow sensor

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

hello. my car just got alot of work done with itcylinder head changewhole timing kit changefuel injectors changethe fan turning motor thing i forgot the name, it was stuck so that was changed tooone of the belts was bad so thats changedand now i need an air flow mass meter. now i found alot. i just ordred one ysterday but the batards are taking their time to send it and i don't have much time before school starts. so i was looking at ebay and i found an air flow meter for a 1990 that works good as what they said. and another one for a 1995 s14.but the problem is i have an s13 1991 dohc. would any of these work for my car, at least for like a month or so?thanks

No...you need a '91-94 MAF.

The voltage curves are different, and running a different MAF will not make the ECU happy. It *may* start, but it will run rough, or cut out at high RPM, or whatever.

MAF HAS to match the ECU, unless you use a S-AFC to convert the signal.

'89-90

'91-94

'95-98

ALL different, and unique.

Oh...and search http://www.car-part.com for a used one...they list it under "Air Flow Meter".

And find one even across the ocuntry...most junkyards ship overnight for CHEAP, and a MAF is small/light...easy to ship.

ahh maan . alright cool thanks man. man i need my 240 fast lol. all i need is that sensor, whats the worst that could happen if i drive it easly with a bad sensor for a few days

Nothing other than bad mileage, stumbling, possible stalling.

Shouldn't do any *real* damage.

It could damage the catalytic converter.

if it hurts the cat then just get rid of the cat and straight pipe it did you try cleaning the MAF? get some electrical cleaner from an autoparts store and spray that puppy down

humm ok then i'll prbly drive it for a few days i have to. yeah i took it to a friend mechanic to try to fix it but he said its not fixable. he took the chip out and tried to fix it. but with no luck. i ordered a good working one from a company online for 85 shipping included. good deal or rip off??thanks for the replies btw. and i do have a straight pipe
