I have a 1995 KA24DE 240SX

I've searched already and couldn't find the answer. I'm having a problem with my MAF. My car will run really rough and then evently shut off, with the MAF plugged in. When you unplug it the car smooths out and runs fine. I know it goes into limp mode, can't idle above 2500 rpm's yada yada. Any ways when I perform the test on the MAF from the white wire I'm getting a reading of 11 volts. I then ordered another MAF from a junk yard, put it on and the same thing happened car would idle rough then die. You can keep the car running by holding it at 1000 RPM's or higher but it will shots out a ton of black smoke. So the question I have is, did i just get unlucky and have two bad MAF's. Also could any perform the test on a known good MAF and let me know what the voltage reading is. The test is with the engine off key in run position back probe the white wire going to the maf (theres three of them) and you should get a reading of no more than 1 volt. Could someone please help and let me know if they had a similiar experience. thanks in advance.

The volatge will change with varying RPMs. Try revving it to 2500 and seewhat reading you get.

I hooked up an old AFC. I bought a stock MAF off of someone here and it was doing the same thing. The AFC took care of it. You might try that. It's hard to find cheap ones though.

The car won't run with the MAF plugged in, it blows black smoke then dies.

Whats an AFC? (is that air fuel control) and how did you hook it up? Could you elaborate more?

i have a problem with my car when i turn it in on the morning it starts good but when i turn it off for like a hour it takes some time to start i think is my maf but im not sure ?
