I have a 1995 KA24DE 240

I've searched already and couldn't find the answer. I'm having a problem with my MAF. My car will run really rough and then evently shut off, with the MAF plugged in. When you unplug it the car smooths out and runs fine. I know it goes into limp mode, can't idle above 2500 rpm's yada yada. Any ways when I perform the test on the MAF from the white wire I'm getting a reading of 11 volts. I then ordered another MAF from a junk yard, put it on and the same thing happened car would idle rough then die. You can keep the car running by holding it at 1000 RPM's or higher but it will shots out a ton of black smoke. So the question I have is, did i just get unlucky and have two bad MAF's. Also could any perform the test on a known good MAF and let me know what the voltage reading is. The test is with the engine off key in run position back probe the white wire going to the maf (theres three of them) and you should get a reading of no more than 1 volt. Could someone please help and let me know if they had a similiar experience. thanks in advance.

I had that problem too my car idled shatty and blew out tons of black smoke, but exchanging my maf for another from the junkyard worked for me, I know it's not that much help, but try another maf just for good measure and check the resistance in your spark plug wires and also make sure the distributor is still good. Hope this helps, as it this all that I can recommend. Good luck and i hope you get it fixed.

P.S. try spraying a little electrical/contact cleaner into the maf's maybe that will get some kind of connection going.

The wires resistance is good, and I tried the spray on each MAF. The junkyards shipping out another MAF for me so hopefully (fingers crossed) this one works. Thanks for the input and taking the time to try and help me. I'll let you know if the new MAF works. Thanks again.
