Okay boys and girls time to reveal who here knows how to kick some major ***.

I'll start. For five mind degrading years being taught by the worse master ever, I did Tae Kwon Do. My dad did one good thing for me and that was actually correct all of my technique (he did TKD for many many MANY years).

Then throughout those 5 years somewhere in between I took three years of Muay Thai.

At the beginning of the 5 years I took one year of Tai Chi from my friend who was also doing TKD with me. Then I switched over to some Tiger Claw Shaolin stuff from my uncle.

So yeah that's what I've done.

I took Hapkido for awhile, didnt learn much REAL fighting though. I probably should have stuck with it though to really learn anything.

I took Tae Kwon Do for about 2 years when I was young. Actually, more, if you count how many times I started and stopped again, but I never learned anythig back then. I'm not sure I learned a whole lot about fighting from that. I can throw a mean fast punch. I don't really have the flexibility to kick effectively anymore, unless I aim for the knee. I probably can kick much more *** from what I learned in high school wrestling than anything I learned in Tae Kwon Do. TKD tends to focus more on a sparring/boxing fight style. Street fights tend to be much more down and dirty.

Oh yes. I will always be ridiculously flexible. Street Fights are fun. Been in a couple. I mix up the best parts of all that I learned. The speed and mobility of TKD with the striking power of Muay thai with the punching i learned from Tiger Claw and the breathing techniques I learned from Tai Chi. Pretty effective for street brawls, seeing as I'm 5'9" and weigh 130lbs. I can't really just pick someone up and throw them around. Now a wrestle... i've fought one of those guys... never expected me to be so quick. heheeh.

Took TKD and Judo. Learned this. There are people out there that have no martial arts training that can still kick your ***.

Taught Kenpo (AKKA) in Tucson while I was in college - got paid very little but it covered my lessons.

Fun stuff, did OK in tournaments (especially against the TKD schools), but Cold Zero is right - there's always someone badder - when you least expect it.

Worst whuppin' I ever got was from a brand new muay thai student with several years of Aki-jitsu.... groundfighting is ALL where it's at, grapplers / wrestlers / judo practitioners are flat-out scary.

Groundfighting would be nice to learn, but I'm much to small to hold my own on the ground. I HAVE to be mobile, which I am. Its VERY VERY hard work to learn how to stay on your feet in a fight but it was well worth it.

I know a little Ninjitsu...All I really know from that is how to keep a punch from hitting me, and the rest is just my instinct on how to fight, really.

why didnt he just teach you from the beginning w/o having to go somewhere else, if u had to pay thats pretty uh... not smart .

does using index precision to pull a trigger count as martial arts? ;)

Well the thing was my dad didn't have time. And it was nice to have someplace to train and other people to train with. You can only go so far by yourself. And besides it was fun beating up on your own master.

I took a few months of TKD, I quit when the teacher dude quit

3yrs at the hong cha school where i learned the 5 animal fist of the lung hu pai(gm lao kim). 2 yrs arnis de mano in the lanada system. but for street fighting i learned the most in bar brawls. the martial arts helped mostly when im fighting more than one person at once.

I used to do quite abit of Kick-boxing in my late teens.

Felt like Jean Claude, when I rode teh subway, with my muscles freshly warm +stretched from a spar, I kinda wished someone would start something.

Anyway that was then, this is now and about 40 lbs later..:(Speaking of which, I am leaving for longish run right now, to work on it.

Fred..:)

About 4 years of Aikido/ Jujitsu. Kenjutsu too. <----Japanese swordfighting.

took some kempo in middle school. got out of it when I left that school.

Not much, really, but I do try and keep up with the kenjutsu every so often. Still have my Bokken :)

I'm taking tae kwon do right now. I just got my camo belt and it's been aobut 6 months. I'm learning a lot and it's given me a lot of confidence. For all you who say you havn't learned much from all the different classes you've taken i think ur full of ****. It's all about how you treat the classes and how dedicated you are. If you were smart you would watch a few of the classes before you joined one. you might save ur self some $$$ As for street fighting i think it's a waste of time. Anyone who starts **** with you on the streets is most likely just trying to look cool infont of his friends or is too drunk to even know what he's doing. I'm confident that my tae kwon do training mixed withe my past 2 years of karate training and my natural speed and flexibility gives me the deffinite advantage over almost any average person on the streets regardless of they're size. It's all in your confidence and trust inyour self and ur abilities. believe and you shall conquer.Despite what i just wrote if some guy hits on my girl or try to start **** with me you better believe I'm gonna make him regret it.
